"The first time I played for Resolute at H0l0 I had a rare and overwhelming feeling of being at home. Ever since then they have remained very close to my heart, and so I am overjoyed to be joining them for my transatlantic bookings moving forward. 

To celebrate this new chapter of our journey together, I have made a contribution to their podcast series. This live recording is from Houghton 2024, on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Tantrum stage, with all my closest people in the front row. Andrew Weatherall (1963-2020) was a highly influential British DJ, producer, and remixer, renowned for his eclectic taste and innovative approach to music. Emerging from the vibrant London music scene in the late 1980s, Weatherall became a pivotal figure in the development of the acid house and electronic music genres. He gained widespread recognition for his remix of the track "Loaded" by Primal Scream, which helped define the sound of the early '90s and contributed to the rise of the Madchester scene.

Weatherall's work was characterized by a unique blend of genres, seamlessly fusing elements of house, techno, rock, and post-punk. His productions often featured a raw, gritty aesthetic, reflecting his deep understanding of both the dancefloor and the underground music culture. As a DJ, he was known for his captivating sets that traversed a wide range of styles, captivating audiences with his ability to create a hypnotic atmosphere.

February has arrived and we've decided to go with something a little different for episode 21 of the Phonica Mix Series. Andrew Weatherall is a legend of the UK music scene and also one of our regulars here at the shop. We've always considered him to have a finely tuned ear and he loves to dig for music across all genres and styles. We always wanted him to contribute to the series and this month's episode is one of the most original submissions we've had as it doesn't contain a single track of House & Techno which is arguably the main sound our shop has become associated with. There isn't much that hasn't already been said about this legendary producer, DJ and master remixer so we've decided to let the music do the talking here. Here you'll find an eclectic mix that includes everything from slow-mo Patrick Cowley cuts to afro rhythms from William Onyeabor and mid 80's cold wave from Nagamatzu.
