How do you get 1115 plays and that many comments in 16 minutes? Am I missing something here? Whats the deal - i work really hard on SC to promote mine and support other peoples tracks - what yer secret? :-)

When you think of house music around the globe, Detroit and Chicago pop up as cities where it all began, but also Berlin and Amsterdam, where the free spirited techno sound lives and breathes. While it is a saying among many foreigners that Holland is the capital of Amsterdam, we harvest more than that.

Way up in the north lies Groningen, a city filled with students and northerners. They are sober and sturdy, pragmatic and honest folk. News from the north rarely finds it way to the busy and hasty Amsterdam, but some true gems reside there, and we took the time to talk to one: Malbetrieb. - MF.

Excerpt from is interview for SEKOIA.nl: “I am constantly recording sounds with my phone and recorder. I can have hours of fun from small and unusual things or sounds I hear in the streets. When I make music I work with pre selected scenes from all these recordings and jam with them. I have a large mixing table and my hardware instruments that enable me to record a track in real time. I want to give my tracks a live feel, so I don’t arrange my tracks upfront anymore, but just let it happen. You can really hear that the music has been made live, along with little errors. But that’s just what gives it its charm.”

Fueled with positive energy from so many familiar faces, the entire closing celebrations setup, this SHOELESS madness turned into one of my favourite weekends of the year.   I can't thanks Bas Engels & the entire alter ego crew enough for the euphoric times last weekend led me to and for making me and my friends feel at home & on vacation at the same time. 

This was me in power mode, scrolling through my wide collection on saturday evening to create a power session of house & weirdness to close off the shoeless chapter with a bang. Much gratitude to everyone who partied with me & overwhelmed each other with so many smiles. 

I look forward to their next chapter when they bring SMALL MATTERS to town. Hugs unders..

Over half a year has passed since Loz’s last outing on Brooklyn’s Razor N Tape but he’s back on a solo tip with this 4 tracker of slightly deeper and more synth-driven cuts than we’ve been used to this year from the man. Slap Dancer sets the tone with punchy drum & sample hits, easily the most club oriented of the bunch. Duplicity sees Loz back on that slightly funkier sound we have come to know of recent times, but with a little added dustiness. Flavour adds a little extra sprinkling of dust with it’s rolling drums and chords – proper chillin’ basement tackle. Be sure to check that B2 cut Sunset Vista for that slow, machine driven & synthed out acid jam as well.

Resoluto: a real dog when it comes to groovy house music. Like man’s best friend for thousands of years, Resoluto stays loyal to the beat!
Resoluto bought his first decks in 1993 when he was only a little puppy. After a year of buying records and practicing hard he started deejaying in a local club. Not satisfied with the amount of gigs, he started organising his own parties. He also began releasing popular Hip Hop mixtapes which opened the doors to all the famous clubs like Paradiso and the Escape in Amsterdam. At the end of the nineties he managed his own club, but soon realised it was a dog eat dog atmosphere and quit and went on to new things…
At the same time a good friend introduced him to house and techno music. A whole new world opened for the dog when he frequently started visiting clubs. He really fell in love with the sound and the party people.
Not only his fur but also the passion for electronic music kept itching, so he began producing music in 2001. This made his tail wag at a high speed and he could not wait until the moment was there that he could play his own music on vinyl. He had a long way to go because as a DJ you know how you want it to sound, but really making that sound is a whole different story. So when he heard about a new school for musicians in 2003 called "Academie voor Popcultuur" he decided to take his producing skills to the next level and went back to school again.
His decision to go back to school paid off. In 2005 he had his first vinyl release on Damazing Records. His track got released together with 5 other tracks on a very special Limited edition.
Lately Resoluto is working hard in his studio experimenting with recording his own sounds. Just like he did for the track "Thumbs up". For this track he recorded samples from a Kalimba (African thumb piano), shakers, bongos, handclaps and finger snaps to reach his distinctive sound. And occasionally he is barking at the neighbours when they complain about the loud music…
