Lepke B’s blissful disregard for the sacred in life has placed him as one of the testcard knights. His totally unique approach to sound plunderphonics and visual art have led him to work with some of the most respected people in his field, including the Turntable Hell tour with Otomo Yoshihide. Lepke broadcasts intermittently on Londons Resonance Radio as The Hand of Glory, Mobius Strip and other sonic interventions.

Kinn’s show this month marks a departure from the “hour of tune after tune” format. Each month Kinn will ask a guest to collaborate with them on re-contextualising, remixing and extending music from their discography. They will create the majority of an hour of entirely new and unheard music.

This month's guest is Klaar (Joe Shakespeare), who co-founded the Berlin/London based Label Knives alongside Kuedo (Vex’d). As Klaar, he provides a 30 minute guest mix of unheard and re-contextualised content, as well as working with Kinn to remix his latest release SYLVAN (on Knives).

In this first episode 'Mello Gold':

In 1967, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera approached the Krofft Brothers to design costumes for a television show which would feature animated and live-action segments, with the whole show hosted by a bubblegum pop group of anthropomorphic characters, played by actors in fleecy costumes similar to later Sid and Marty Krofft characters such as H.R. Pufnstuf. The Banana Splits Adventure Hour premiered on NBC on September 7, 1968.

Each show represented a meeting of the Banana Splits Club, and the wraparounds featured the adventures of the club members, who doubled as a musical quartet, meant to be reminiscent of the Beatles and the Monkees. Unlike their human predecessors, however, the Banana Splits were bizarre, anthropomorphic animals: rhythm guitarist Drooper was a lion, lead guitarist Fleegle was a dog, keyboardist Snorky was an elephant, and drummer Bingo was a monkey.

The Banana Splits' bubblegum pop rock 'n' roll was provided by studio professionals, including Joey Levine (I Enjoy Being a Boy, It's a Good Day for a Parade), Al Kooper , Barry White (Doin' the Banana Split),and Jimmy Radcliffe provided his song (I'm Gonna Find a Cave).

Additional material features the Micro Ventures of Professor Carter and his two teenage kids, Mike and Jill, who use a shrinking machine to shrink themselves and their dune buggy to miniature size, to explore and experience the world from the perspective of an insect. Professor Carter, Mike, and Jill change to micro-size to observe an ant colony ...Groovy!

Not to be listened to on a full stomach, features exceedingly bloated drones and dread sonics weaved throughout classic writings on depression and blackened soundscapes composed by Kinn. And yet, there is hope for all sick dogs...

Channelling an array of fervent interests in many genres through different mediums (Film, Music, Sound Art and more), Kinn - the brooding-electronics project of London based artist Freddy Lomas - and his guests use original soundscapes and compositions to weave together an original concept for each month's show.

In this show, Mark Leckey entrusts Kinn with re-contextualising several of the Turner Prize-winning artist’s works from 1999-2021. From his recent commission at the Tate Britain, O’Magic Power of Bleakness (2019) which was released on vinyl by Boomkat earlier this year, to his greatly influential Dream English Kid, 1964 - 1999 AD (2015) and Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore (1999).

Providing Kinn with access to his archive, Kinn began extracting the audio from his films, re-harmonising and sampling moments that possessed “musical potential” or "evocative phrasing" and transforming them into instruments which he then wrote the album with, delving into the contemporary artist’s conceptual framework as inspiration for the music. The result is Mark Leckey’s career-spanning vision translated into the format of music, his favoured themes of nostalgia, dread and anxiety are exaggerated and punctuated by bold and articulate musical expression, providing an emotionally rich auditory journey which fans of both artist’s works will recognise and love. Resonance Extra premiers this collaborative work as more of an album transmission akin to the early days of John Peel Sessions rather than a radio DJ mix.

Kinn describes the work as “sitting firmly in the middle of my last record (Anamnesis Landscape, released on First Light Records last year) and where I am moving forward with my sound, a schism of classic instrumentation and harmony being enhanced by contemporary sound design, Albini-fan-boy recording techniques and studio wizardry”.

Also features additional instrumentation by Will Langstone (Cello) & Louis Giannamore (Percussion).

Barkumdeer, a new collaboration between violist Jenny Ames & percussionist Louis Giannamore (who plays the drums for Kinn) join Kinn to form Barkinndeer.

Together they have created 50 minutes of original music formed from edits, alternative & extended versions of their music. For fans of Black Metal, György Ligeti & depressing black and white European films.

Included within the mix are 2 premiers from Barkumdeer's forthcoming debut album, slated for a release on First Light Records in the future.

Closing off the final moments of the show is new music from ALL HANDS_MAKE LIGHT & Laila Sakini.

I try to upkeep a daily studio practice, even if it’s spending half an hour playing guitar after slogging it through work all day. Most of this becomes documented in folders of audio to be used for later projects. However. With such a clear and singular vision for what I want to achieve with Kinn and my other aliases, the majority of these sonic experiments never find an appropriate home, this show is a means of being able to share these raw & textured sounds in short 10-30 second bursts of my personal recordings (2016-2021), from modular synth noodling, jams with friends, outtakes & studio recordings from the next album and more. 


The resulting experience is liking to the common activities of any sound enthusiast, from the favoured form of procrastinating via blearily scrolling through social media; listening through snippets of new releases on Boomkat; to preparing to begin a new project by rifling through the killer euclidean rhythms you got really excited about after a bottle of bargain barrel wine but now you’re wondering if the world needs another AFX knockoff.

Each Morning of the World.

These recordings of buddhist prayers were made at the Tek Chok Ling Nunnery in Kathmandu. They represent their daily ritual. The soundscape is a spiritual journey, filled with harmony and cohesion, inner peace and wisdom. The mood of the recordings is deeply connected with the human's mind need to take a break once a while from the hustle and bustle of daily life and western consumerism. This sound journey allows me to reach back to a world where people cherish life the most. Prayer, as a daily ritual, greets every day with joy and respect. These recordings made me realise that what matters most is the present, and the key to a healthy life is to not mourn the past and not worrying about the future. 

PhoNographic Mornings is an unusual project, which carries your mind away while sipping coffee in your own house. I'm honoured to have the chance to share this experience with you, and hope that this soundscape will be a source of inspiration for many of you.

"I wanted this 'mix' to be like the classic Swedish radio show 'Sommar', wherein celebrities are invited each year to talk about whatever they like and play their favourite records. Of course, in this day in age that is simply called a podcast. Or really, it's just me talking about what came to mind in those rare moments I have to myself as a father of a young child, so the intellectual bar is quite low.

This series for Resonance Extra forms part of a wider project, 'Each Morning of the World', which invites sound artists, composers and recordists globally to share their own specific point of listening, either through a raw field recording or original composition.

This episode: "A Pond With Carp in the Temple" by Takamitsu Ohta. 

Recorded at around 6:00am in the precincts of the Kenninji Temple, Japan. The microphone was installed at the edge of a pond, picking up sounds such as the splashing of carp, birds, the footsteps of worshipers, and the sound of cars passing by.

Jose Macabra presents solo work and other collaborations.

Vagina Dentata Organ is an art and noise music project by Jordi Valls. Valls is from Catalonia, Spain, and cites the influence of the surrealists, especially Salvador Dali, on his work. His albums could be classed as especially bleak field recordings, dealing with subject matter such as sex, death and violence. 

Valls' work is also concerned with the fetishism of art in general, record collecting particularly, with his own records being released in very limited edition. 

Vagina Dentata Organ has provoked outrage on a number of occasions, namely by releasing the infamous recording of The Peoples Temple in Jonestown, Guyana. Their performance in 1984 on Spanish TV programme La Edad de Oro TV caused a public outcry as it included the destruction of three paintings. 

A video documentary on the first three Vagina Dentata Organ albums was made by Julian Alvarez and won first prize in the 26th Semana de Cinema in Barcelona. In 1997, the arts and culture magazine **Life Without Sex** dedicated a whole issue to Vagina Dentata Organ. 
More recently, Jordi Valls has concentrated on painting rather than recording, producing a large number of portraits of supermodels with his own blood.
