Atoraye – Amtana. 

Atoraye’s debut EP “Amtana”, which means “darkness” in Neo-Aramaic (modern Assyrian language) is an emotive reflection on a certain period of his life during personal and global upheaval. 

The main instrument used in the collection of sample-based tracks is the oud – a Middle Eastern and North African fretless string instrument, which reflects his cultural background. The samples used in the music were collected by Atoraye during his journey to Lebanon in 2019, prior to the devastating explosion that rocked Beirut in 2020. 

As a descendent of Assyrian and Pontic predecessors, two cultures which are no longer bound to a specific territory, Atoraye explores his roots through Amtana’s sonic palette, in an attempt to locate his cultural heritage within himself, and which stands in stark contrast to the Russian monoculture in which he grew up and currently inhabits. 

Side B of the release is an intimate recording of a relative's funeral service, sung by a clergy member in Neo-Aramaic. The recording is augmented by Atoraye's instrumental interpretation of the final rite of passage - death. 

Amtana в переводе с ново-арамейского (современный язык ассирийцев) означает “тьма”. Этот альбом – высказывание, проявление эмоций, которые я испытывал за определенный период своей жизни. Реакция на события личные и глобальные. Приход к определенной идеологии и структуре работы со звуковым материалом. Эти композиции дали вектор для дальнейшего музыкального развития. 

Главным инструментом этого альбома является уд – восточный струнный инструмент. Уд является основным инструментом на всем ближнем востоке и северной африке. Он безладовый, это позволяет играть четверть тона. Собственно на микротональности основана вся восточная теория музыки. Она дает больший диапазон для раскрытия эмоциональных переживаний. 
Помимо прочего, в композициях используются семплы, записанные мной из поездки в Ливан, в город Бейрут в 2019 году. Бейрут – это город который я всей душой люблю, в котором я смог почувствовать спокойствие. К сожалению события 2020 года нанесли ему большой ущерб…. 

В своей музыке Atoraye пытается скрестить восточную традиционную теорию музыки и современное западное экспериментальное звучание. Являясь носителем ассирийской и понтийской крови, одна из основных моих идеей в в его творчестве это совмещение культур и звучания.

Exhausted Modern's debut full-length titled The Year of the Rat is a proof of the thought-provocation that author's name generates. Released on his own Endless Illusion imprint, the album doesn't have all the answers, it simply offers Exhausted Modern's perception of the modern times and also the energy to do something with them. The title, borrowed from the Chinese zodiac calendar, doesn't slip to mere esoteric prognosis, it fittingly and provocatively comments on broken mechanics of society, capitalistic hierarchisation and emotional frustration of its victims. Despite the dystopian character of Exhausted Modern's sound, which ranges from fast melancholia through suspicious calmness to slowly bubbling rage, it doesn't feel like the end of the world. It's critical artistic statement of a person who despite seeing all the darkness, also sees the way out of it.

El mes de Agosto está calentito... Podcast #15 para SYNTAX de la mano de otro jefe que nos regala su arte, KÖR BOIRA. Sesión impoluta como todo lo que hace, nos encanta todo lo que propone este artista, que es ya de la casa. Menudos 60 minutos de Electrazo de altos vuelos que se ha marcado para SYNTAX.

KÖR BOIRA es un DJ y productor valenciano ambicioso y con las cosas muy claras, con un gusto sobresaliente y un talento que tiene pocos límites. En sus años en Valencia ya apuntaba maneras y así se demostró en sus sesiones por los clubs de la city. Hace ya unos años que partió para Berlin en busca de sus metas electrónicas, y que duda cabe de que lo está consiguiendo. Allí formó su propio colectivo (SLET) junto a otros de su especie y lo que están consiguiendo es digno de mención. La crew SYNTAX estuvo en una de sus fiestas allá por febrero, en el club subterráneo "Melancholie" y fue flipante. Grandísimo futuro para este artista al que admiramos y queremos con locura.

August month is hot... Podcast #15 for SYNTAX from the hand of another boss who gives us his art, KÖR BOIRA. Immaculate session like everything he does, we love everything that this artist proposes, who is already from the house. What a 60 minute high-flying Electro that has been scored for SYNTAX.

KÖR BOIRA is an ambitious Valencian DJ and producer with very clear things, with an outstanding taste and a talent that has few limits. In his years in Valencia he already pointed out ways and this was demonstrated in his sessions by the city's clubs. It has been a few years since he left for Berlin in search of his electronic goals, and there is no doubt that he is achieving it. There he formed his own collective (SLET) along with others of his kind and what they are achieving is worth mentioning. The SYNTAX crew was at one of their parties back in February at the underground club "Melancholie" and it was amazing. Great future for this artist whom we admire and love with madness.
