London-based DJ and producer Rommek releases on 47, showcasing his signature brand of seething, fragmented techno in this formidable label debut.

"Arkho" opens the EP with rolling drums before a heavily distorted synth line pierces the atmosphere, evoking tension and unease before launching into a furious lead. On "Silverlock," broken drums skitter across a droning soundscape, while a glitched-out melody adds a dark tint. "Decipher" squirms with a similarly syncopated rhythm and ice cold textures, topped with crisp hi-hats. Closing track "Synthetic Dream" is threatening but never overly dark, stitching weighty drums between tactile, warped-out synth notes. A chilling cut that conveys Rommek's shadowy aesthetic all the way through.

In an era where techno is being dominated by two opposite, but equally mindless and equally "loud" factions: the “it’s not so serious, kick goes boom” tribe and the pseudo-intellectual, hypno-blip cult; Scalameriya cuts through the noise and calls for a recalibration of what club music can be.

Ah, not an easy task to be creative when navigating through weltschmerz, daily grind, and time pressure... or at least for me. 

But gladly, I have friends pushing me to reconnect with my inner child and alleviate all this anxiety. Among them is Nikola, who encouraged me when I had little to no creative juice to create as if I had just discovered techno.
