Parole Emilia Podcast #8 Poppy [Tanzt miteinander, achtet aufeinander]

Fata Morgana is a photomontage created by Hannah Höch in 1957. Its title refers to a specific form of optical illusion: a superior mirage in which atmospheric conditions cause images to appear as floating or inverted at the horizon. The mirage phenomenon known as a fata morgana occurs when layers of warm and cool air bend light in ways that distort distant objects, making them appear elevated, mirrored, or displaced.

As a photomontage, Fata Morgana is constructed from cut and assembled photographic reproductions. In the 1950s, Höch increasingly worked with color imagery, often using printed magazines and other contemporary sources. Britannica confirms that her postwar practice moved toward more abstract compositions and the use of color fragments. The palette in Fata Morgana reflects this shift, with tonal contrasts ranging from ochre grounds to pinks and blues.

The composition demonstrates Höch’s precise control of her medium. Fragments are not simply layered but carefully positioned so that edges and forms generate a sense of rhythm and tension across the small rectangular surface. Observers have noted that the fragments can evoke natural or geological associations, but these remain open to interpretation rather than definitive representation.

Although Fata Morgana is not overtly satirical or political in the manner of Höch’s Dada works from the 1910s and 1920s, it continues her exploration of transformation, fragmentation, and perception. Art historians describe her postwar works as more meditative, often shifting the focus from direct social critique to poetic and abstract visual construction. In this sense, the title Fata Morgana may be seen as reinforcing themes of illusion and instability, though such interpretations belong to critical readings of the work rather than documented statements by the artist.

By the time she produced Fata Morgana, Höch was nearly seventy years old, yet the work reflects her ongoing experimentation with collage. Its layered fragments and evocative title align with recurring concerns in her practice: the instability of vision, the recombination of images, and the transformation of familiar materials into new and ambiguous forms.

Zsófi captures the essence of underground minimalism, where every detail matters and space itself become part of the groove. Built on clarity and control, the mix emphasizes structure, pacing, and atmosphere, presenting a clear exploration of minimal electronic sound.

10 Jahre MIT DIR Festival und wir hatten das große Glück zum ersten Mal als Duo dabei zu sein und die Gäste auf einen musikalischen Spaziergang vom Kiosk bis zur Begrüßungsgeburtstagsparty und großem Opening auf der Mühle am Donnerstag mitzunehmen und die Tanzbeine auf ein großartiges Wochenende vorzubereiten. Die sweete Begrüßung aller Tanzfreudigen durch die MIT DIR Crew und der Geburtstagskuchen nach unserem Set war das absolute Sahnehäubchen. Dieses Wochenende war eins das für die Ewigkeit bleibt. Alles Gute zum Zehnjährigen liebes MIT DIR. Ihr habt da was richtig schönes gezaubert. 
Diesen besonderen Moment für uns haben wir für euch festgehalten und freuen uns ihn mit euch teilen zu können.

10 años de MIT DIR Festival y tuvimos el honor de poder estar en esta fecha tan importante por primera vez como Bouncing Mirrors, llevando a los invitados en un paseo desde el Kiosco hasta la gran apertura en el Mühle, calentando así las piernas para un fin de semana mágico.
La dulce bienvenida de toda la gente de la MIT DIR Crew y el pastel de cumpleaños después de nuestro set fueron la cereza del pastel.
Este momento quedará grabado por siempre en nuestros corazones y nos alegra poder compartirlo con ustedes.

Willkommen beim Zirkus: Krumm & Steve

Schieb Torkel auf der Rikscha ist nämlich gar keine Sportart.
Fühlt sich aber an wie eine – wenige halbe Stunden vor Beginn schiebt sich die Bauchtasche mit Sticks & allen anderen wichtigen Dingen aus der Gegenwart und die Panik beginnt.

Challenge Accepted.
Wie oft können Nerven aus den Ohren torkeln und der Geh-Spezialist selbst gegen das Pult?

Ein Schieflagen-Orbit auf zwei Rädern, wie ein Frequenz-Phantom, dass durch das Bermuda Dreieck des MIT DIR Festivals driftet – genauer gesagt: 
Zwischen Mühle, Turbo Tüff und Wasteland – dort wo die legendäre Rave Rikscha liegt, wo selbst der Bass Lenkprobleme hat und auf die schiebe-Bahn-Gerät. 

Dort, wo das lila-rosa Meer voller Köpfe flimmert, wo das Blitzen der Reflektoren die Gesichter rasiert – dort drehen sich nicht nur die Fahrradspeichen wie Windspiele, sondern Du – wegen zuviel Espresso Martini und diesem klingeln im Kopf 🛎️🛎️🛎️

Er kam nicht, er torkelte.
Nicht aus dem Backstage – sondern aus einer Backstube, abgrundsteve weit unten aus dem Sumpfergrund, wo der Snareteig ruht und die Kickdrums langsam aufgehen.
Niemand weiß genau, wie er vom Ofen in die Rave Rikscha geraten ist, aber plötzlich war er da: Der schrägfahrende Aggregatzustand, Frequenzbäcker im Ausnahmezustand auf einer Rikscha, wo Navigation zwecklos ist und die Realität sich dreht.

Impulschief, Provokaschief und Melanchoschief, gestrampelt auf 122 bikes per minute, die man nicht tanzt, sondern über sich ergehen lässt wie einen seltsamen Traum mit schöner Beleuchtung.

Das ist kein Fahrrad-Kit-Set. Es ist eine Teigfalte im Zeitgefüge, eine Mischung aus schrägfließender Bewusstseinsverschiebung auf Schienen und einem sanftem Schubsen Richtung: „Was passiert hier eigentlich?“

Und während sich die Rikscha aus der Realität vibrierte, verschwand er wieder in den Nebeln der sumpfigen Backstube, mit einer Kick, die nie ganz aufhörte.

Manche sagen, er war nie da.
Andere haben noch Fahrradspeichen im Haar.

Schieb Torkel & die RaveRikscha @ 10 Years • MIT DIR Festival 2025

Zum 10-jährigen Jubiläum meines geliebten Mit Dir Festivals durfte ich meinen allerersten Gig auf der wunderbaren Rave Rikscha spielen. Ein wilder Ritt, angefangen bei Downtempo bis Peak Time Techno, das Motto: „Ich bin mir für nichts zu schade.“ Zwischen Euphorie und Konzentration, zwischen Glückseligkeit und Aufregung war es ein Wechselbad der Gefühle, bei dem natürlich nicht alles so geklappt hat wie geplant, aber Fehler gehören dazu. Am Ende bleibt riesige Dankbarkeit für das Vertrauen, dass ich auf dieser tollen Bühne spielen durfte, für den großartigen Support meiner Friends, vor und während des Gigs, für die vielen Leudies, die getanzt und mitgesungen haben, für die Mit Dir Familie und Femquency, ohne die ich das nie gemacht hätte. Ich bin stolz, dass ich mich das getraut habe, und hoffe, ihr habt beim Hören genauso viel Spaß wie ich beim Spielen.
