The concept behind the joint-venture consisting of d.b.h and the two turntable wizards Chrisfader and Testa is quite simple: Take a specific genre of music, sample and flip it into danceable beats. 

In the case of their second EP "Dabkeh", named after a popular Mediterranean form of line-dancing, the subject of the musical explorations is the Arab world. The three guys from RLS spent quite some time mining old vinyl or cassettes to create the tracks on this EP, in the hopes of getting some wild Dabkeh moves started on dancefloors worldwide!

At this moment, Global Bass music is an intimate circuit in the electronic music landscape. Airplane tickets and the internet serve to connect producers and artists in every imaginable combination. Spanning across Africa, Europe, India, the Caribbean, and the Americas, allowing for the birth of new forms of collaboration. At the nexus of the Tropical music monsoon is producer Thor Partridge, aka Thornato.

Born in Sweden, Thor grew up in a household filled with traditional Greek, African, and Carribbean music. Moving in early childhood to Queens, New York, the borough’s diversity further influenced his style and taste. Thor added to his rich musical palette by studying classical piano, jazz guitar, and bluegrass banjo. A passion for electronic music production, remixing, and music of the entire globe soon developed.

Thor’s debut EP “Things Will Change” is an amalgamation of his global influence, coupled with strong roots in dance music culture. His music is not a product of samples downloaded from the internet, but from his driving wanderlust and ability to hand select musicians to work with on location in the countries where they are from. By recording in the field with a mobile studio, Thor captures the real essence and soul of the music and where it's coming from. The EP kicks off with “Chapinero”, a bass heavy joint with an infectious Colombian Gaita melody. Handclaps and chopped vocal samples make for a booming floor rocker. “Deux a Duex” turns towards the African dancefloor incorporating infectious guitars and beautiful vocal harmonies courtesy of Kongo Electro from Cape Town. “Koz Kazah” heads to the Middle East with it’s violin melodies, thick sub-bass, and Arabic vocals courtesy of Karen Be. Finally, “Tera Dewana” lands us in the Indian subcontinent with it’s driving beat, tablas, and Hindi vocals from Vasanth S & AKS.

Thornato's "Things Will Change" EP shows that while indeed the music does change, the soul and the heart of sounds from all over the world remain consistent, and that dancefloor music is universal - no matter where in the world you are!

Building up a name for himself over a number of years as a proficient and in-demand remixer, Thor’s breakout tune “Gaita Gaita” has been sampled thousands of times by producers all over the world, and has become a certified hit record in South America. A string of remixes and a couple of rare song releases later, Thor’s groundbreaking Things Will Change EP was released via Wonderwheel in 2016 garnering massive buzz and record sales, resulting in a European tour that summer, and a Boiler Room performance in the fall.

Bennu represents a giant leap forward for Thornato, as he showcases his chops in crafting dancefloor gems from the ground up. While the electronic production of the album provides a strong backbone, Thor has carefully selected artists from Jamaica, Ecuador, South Africa, Colombia, Canada and beyond to breathe live energy into each song. Since WONDERWHEEL Recording's inception in 2004, Moreno Visini aka The Spy from Cairo, has been sending out dub- based electronic music that has created quite a Worldwide following. On his 3rd studio album under the name The Spy from Cairo, he switches his signature instrument, the classical Arabic Oud, to an electronic Oud which also reflects a transition in his sound throughout the album to a more cosmic & electronic dance- floor experience. The title, "Nothing New Under the Sun" reflects his constant call for people to be more united in this World rather than divided. As he says in the liner notes; "As time goes by, people never seem to learn from History, which we see repeating over & over again (and those in power seem to always stir the same old soup). I sincerely hope we wake up and see what really matters in this life and be together as one.... because all is ONE UNDER THE SUN."  

Written, produced, performed & mixed himself, the album also features some of his Brooklyn Gypsies band-mates Fatima Gozlar, Takuya Nakamura & Ilker Ciraci as well as the talents of Maalem (master gnawa musician) Ben Hassan Jaafer of the group Innov Gnawa on vocals. The album starts with a slow Oud intro backed by a heavy 808 kick to satisfy the likes of his growing Worldwide tribal female belly dance community. He then gives us some classic eastern dub with the tunes "Damascus Market Dub" & "Universal." The transition to the club dance-floor is displayed next with the funky cosmic disco based "Sahir" which has been a real hit from Ozora Festival in Hungary to the Symbiosis festival on the West coast USA. "Dub Shaabi" is a rhythm bending North African shaabi meets dub style production featuring Hassan Ben Jaafer on vocals saying "the Gnawa is coming & they bring good, positive, (sweet) things."Prophecy in Motion" & "When Giants Ruled the Earth" both come in with the disco dub beats that translate well with his string instrument melodies & solos. Next, you get a real cosmic electronic trip with "Ya Amar" & "Sirens of the Nile" showing his diverse Organic Grooves roots. Rounding off the album, "Cairo Tripper" drops some heavy mid tempo beats with apreggiating synths as the backbone for more of his top notch Oud playing.

Queens producer and member of the NYC's infamous Cumba Mela DJ crew Atropolis makes his debut on Wonderwheel Recordings with the "Jump EP". The driving force behind this EP was lit when Atropolis lost all of his music productions created from 2016-2017 right before the turn of 2018. Parallel to this unfortunate loss of work, he has been on bit of a hiatus of releasing original music. "Jump" encompasses the positive force needed when faced with extreme doubt in the presence of pursuing whatever path you may be on. Sometimes you just gotta jump to make it happen.
