Snow In Spring

"thru the pines" is an avant-pop madrigal demo, built entirely from voice, using a Roland VT-4 for distortion/tuning on backing vocals. I make madrigals to warm up for recording "real" vocals. This particular one unearthed feelings I'd left unexplored for about a year or so -- most tangible, I think, in the dropped formant sections -- seemed visceral enough to release as a demo. If you find this and it resonates with you -- you are passing through a field of deep sadness, longing, and half-regret.

The saying refers to learning a process without understanding why it works. Another definition implies the act of imitation, usually with limited knowledge and/or concern for the consequences.
