Gladio Operations presents its eighth release titled “Blue Binary Code”, an EP that returns to the various artists format and is accompanied by relevant names from the electro scene.

The first artist to get us underway is an old acquaintance of ours, Boris Divider (@borisdivider). The Spanish artist gifts us “Gods Of Olympus” a fast-paced cut with aggressive bass lines that inevitably takes us back to Boris' beginnings; a wise choice!

The producer Igors Vorobjovs (@igorsv) is one of the new faces on the European circuit. On his first appearance for Gladio, the Latvian producer signs in with “NH3”, an excellent track that is deep, enveloping, and well moulded with fine and subtle acid touches.

Side B launches with Lectromagnetique, who returns to Gladio with “Space Coast”. As it could not be otherwise, we find ourselves before an energetic, powerful and overflowing cut of dark atmospheres, so characteristic of the Ukrainian artist in his productions.

The American producer Francois Dillinger (@fdbeardd) is another of the new faces on Gladio in 2023. Directly from the motor city comes “Agitated Particles”, a cut where Francois brings us his most hypnotic vision of electro sound.

The EP concludes with the producer Chris Morgan, better known as CH415 (@ch415). With releases on renowned labels such as AC Records or Brokntoys, the Welsh producer leaves us with ”Spaze Modulations” which takes us to a more cosmic and relaxing level.

'Triads' is a mix of crisp hits and gurgling synths with dramatic background chords. It is a privilege to welcome Ed Upton back to Shipwrec for his sixth release with the label. An artist who has been at the forefront of electronic music for three decades, under his well-honed DMX Krew guise the British musician has crafted icy electro, thoughtful electronica and textured techno. It is a combination of these styles that culminate in Tree in Space. A steady kick tethers “Parasite” to reality, a thick earthen melody countered by twinkling refrains as soaked drums splash. Off-centre bleep and beats introduce the title piece. Solid basslines are lightened by playful brassy electrofunk notes as genre limitations melt into Summer warmth. Skeletal scales find themselves confronted by a bruising bulwark of bass in “Unbelief.” Balancing these angular and globular tones are arcing keys that draw the disparate elements into unity. “Meltdown” is the closer. Blending a spread of sounds, acid, braindance and techno, DMX Krew serves up something truly special. Brooding notes are met by cracked percussion and simmering 303 squawk in a track that pursues its own path. An EP from a musician that continues to stretch boundaries and imaginations.

FERMA012 is up close and personal to the Athenian scene. Label co-runner, Morken unveils a diverse 4-tracker infused with an immersive blend of intricate breakbeats, heavy low end and gritty vocals. Remix duties from two staple personas of the local scene, DJ Problems and Fragedis, who are hitting the spot once more.

DJ Problems is one of the driving forces behind Fade Radio, a community-based radio in Athens that is ever-growing, and has recently launched his own label named Street Fighter Honda with a fantastic VA full of surprises. He is also known for his productions as Bekha Mujiri on labels such as Abstract Reality & Meta Moto.

Fragedis has been a consistent presence for more than 15 years, with releases on legendary labels like Modal Analysis & Pi Electronics among others. He co-runs Healthy Summer, an iconic festival in Sougia, Chania, which has hosted the likes of Delta Funktionen, Alienata, Sawf and ANFS just to name a few.
