"The Crossing" is a single-take live recording using the same process from "On The Crossing."

Sound cells were curated from field recordings of a pedestrian crosswalk alerts, and then manipulated on granular level using Kyma. The instrument consists of a repurposed Line-6 amp modeler, running through Max to turn incoming MIDI CC data into outgoing note data or data to be used in Kyma.

Working on a collaboration with my son (he's five), and he needed a theme song. He also made the image.

Update 7/31/19: My son requested a name change, from "A. Wizard Theme," to "A. Ninja Theme," due to his changing interests.

I was thinking about Music In Fifths, by Philip Glass, and how the tension of the piece is derived from the repetition of sonic elements. By taking a phrase or lick and repeating it enough times, it starts to create tension in the composition.
