This was our first group project for Los Angeles Recording School Songwriting Development class. We had a half of a day to come up with concept and lyrics. Then a full day to record and mix over Zoom. It was a really fun project!

Description: Students will create a 32 bar song in the style of their choosing. Refer to the detailed instructions below.

Platform: Logic Pro X

Content requirements:

1. Song must be 32 bars long and in the key of G Major (no exceptions). Include the key signature.

2. Create a drum pattern that has: Quarter Notes, Eighth Notes, Sixteenth Notes

3. Drum pattern must have 3 variations (i.e., do not just use a 1 bar drum loop for the whole song, it needs to change in some way 3 times)

4. You must create a bass line that supports the chords by playing root notes. Only use notes from G major.(Single notes on a separate track)

5. You must use at least 4 different triads from the G major scale in your song.  DO NOT use triads that are not part of the G major scale. 

6. You must record a melody using one of Logic's software instruments. The melody must make use of at least 5 of the 7 scale degrees:

7. Melody must be at least 8 bars long and use only notes found in the G Major Scale.(Single notes on a separate track)

8. Write a Roman Numeral Analysis of the chords that you have used. Write this Analysis in the notepad. Include the chord symbols above or below the Roman Numerals

Los Angeles Recording School Assignment for my Music Composition and Programming class. 

Description: Create a 2 minute song (in any style you choose) that makes use of the requirements below.

Platform: Logic Pro X

Content requirements: Your song must have 3 distinct sections (A,B,C / Verse, Chorus, Bridge. Etc.)
You must create a beat in Logic's Step Sequencer that uses sixteenth notes
Create a custom drum kit in Drum Machine Designer (DMD) and save it with your session as “YOURNAME_KIT” Your custom kit should contain only the individual kick, snare and hi-hat sounds that you import - NOT a full pre-made Logic kit)
Use one of the chord progressions from songs found in the notepad of the "MCP Final Project" Logic session below
Use the chords saved in Chord Trigger on Day 6 to perform the chosen chord progression for the A & B section of your song. Choose a different chord progression for the C section and perform it using Chord Trigger.
Your song must remain in the key of D minor. This includes chords, bassline, melody and all supporting instruments. You may, however, use a major V triad Chord.
You must make use of at least 1 Major 7 or 1 Dominant 7 chord. These chords must remain diatonic (except the V7 chord)
You must make use of the Arpeggiator MIDI FX plug-in on a track (make sure the pattern is also in D minor)
Use the bass sound saved on Day 4 in Retro Synth (or create a new one in the same synth) and create a bassline that supports both of your chord progressions. Make sure to play each root note.
Create a Pad sound in Retro synth that makes use of the “Wobble” (i.e. LFO to Filter)
Write a Roman numeral analysis of the chord changes that were utilized in the song. .
Include this analysis on the Chord Track's Score Editor in the Logic session

This is part of a homework assignment. I was given the vocal track (which I don't own the rights to) and instructed to create a full song within certain guidelines fulfilling certain criteria. 

This is my production of Lighting as a single, not fulfilling all of the homework assignment. The Remix will complete the project.
