So - We're back with mix #57, which is very special indeed. 
It took us a little while, but we finally managed to get a sublime mix from our friends Elaine and Jack, also known as Time Is Away.

Digging into the outer realms of everything from dream-pop, dub, reggae to dub techno and beyond, Time Is Away are 2 of London's finest and most original record playing duos. They've been friends of GGHQ for many years and have been the brains and ears behind a couple of borderline cult mixtapes, as well as their long running and much loved NTS radio show.

This fine selection for GGHQ sees all sorts of mysterious b-sides, obscure 12 mixes, deep LP cuts and rarities woven together with the care and the instinctual approach to playing records that comes with years and years spent combing dusty racks in backwater suburban towns and infamous record stores alike. Like us, Time Is Away are equal opportunities listeners and no stone is left unturned when it comes to finding the gems.

For the title track of her album “Fast Fashion” (Deathbomb Arc, 2021), Lolina cut up videos of Nicolas Ghesquière’s Balenciaga Fall 2007 and Spring 2010 runway shows to create a new audio composition. She continues this experiment in DJ sets and mixes: “Fashion Moment 1999”, a collage of Tom Ford’s Gucci Spring and Fall 1999 runway soundtracks (mix for NTS 10 Curated by Arca, 2021); “Spring Summer Fall Winter” mixing soundtracks to Christophe Decarnin’s Balmain 2008 and 2009 fashion shows (DJ set at Avalon Cafe, London, 2022); and “Nothing In This World Is Free”, a mix for C minus using music to Alber Elbaz’s 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011 collections for Lanvin (recorded live at Soup, Manchester, 2023).

The global trade in roundwood, paper, furniture and other products originating from illegally extracted timber is a multi-million dollar industry. While the West and China are the biggest importers of timber for manufacturing, logging often takes place in countries with poor governance and law enforcement capacity, especially in tropical rainforests and the boreal forests of Russia's far east. It causes unchecked deforestation, leaving plundered wastelands that impact biodiversity, accelerate climate change and threaten the livelihood of indigenous peoples. 

Illicit trade in timber is undertaken by organisations on an industrial scale, involving large companies linked to criminal networks. Serious consequences are met by those who try to stand in their way.
