Hello hello, it’s SYM here presenting you Symbiosis Radio Show.

For this chapter, I’m happy to have a talented artist named Rexer.

Born in Galicia, he emerged from the underground scene of his region and developed a strong interest in electronic music and mixing techniques.
His style - characterized by percussive rhythms and powerful basslines - combine dark and introspective ambiences with high BPMs and makes the dance floor constantly moving.
He’s currently based in Barcelona where he became a co-founder of YO·YO, a queer collective focused on the LGBTQ+ community with a sonic identity centered in groovy techno and trance.
Recently Rexer has broken through the local scene having played in many hot parties in town at Input, Apolo and Moog, and he will soon share the DJ booth with no other than the man himself, Richie Hawtin.

But first, I will provide myself an hour of this new trend of sounds between hypnotic techno and hardgroove that I love so much lately. Let’s have a listen!

It's 5:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, October 27, 2023, the first Hivernacle event at Parc del Forum. ValaV and Rexer, Co-Founders of the queer collective @Yo.yo.bcn, kick off a session that will be remembered by many for a long time.

The main stage is surrounded by the audience, and there's an air of joy. The energy begins to rise as the evening hours approach. The anticipation for the set these artists deliver when they're together on stage multiplies minute by minute. The atmosphere will be unforgettable.

REXER's sets reflect raw, industrial, and hypnotic textures, characterized by percussive rhythms, dark atmospheres, and high BPMs that keep the dance floor energized. In 2023, he co-founded the queer collective YO·YO, focused on activism and support for the LGTBIQ+ community.

He has performed at iconic Barcelona venues such as Apolo, Razzmatazz, Input, Brunch Electronik, and Hivernacle, sharing the stage with artists like Richie Hawtin, Daria Kolosova, and Olivia Mendez. In January 2024, REXER released his debut EP, Seres Irracionales, on the French queer label LDMT Records, which led to performances at Parisian underground venues like FAWA and Spectrum Waves.

Temporal Ascent is REXER’s newest EP, providing an unyielding exploration of
the self. The music addresses the darker dimensions of human experience—
concealed flaws, vulnerabilities, and inner struggles that define us despite our
attempts to hide them. Through this work, REXER encourages us to accept
these shadows as fundamental to our identity, illustrating that personal growth
involves understanding and embracing rather than erasing these aspects.
The EP's sound profoundly reflects this internal odyssey. It embodies the
chaotic, unpredictable nature of transformation—where clarity and confusion
exist side by side, and each progression feels unsure. The dynamic textures
and changing rhythms capture the unease of facing one’s weaknesses, while
also conveying the quiet strength that emerges from embracing these
imperfections.

Temporal Ascent transcends being merely a collection of songs; it serves as a 
deep commentary on the human experience. It delves into the challenge of
reconciling with one’s history, the bravery required to confront the darkness
within, and the resilience discovered in overcoming personal obstacles. This EP
confronts discomfort openly, using it as a catalyst for transformation—
reminding us that every conclusion signals a new beginning.

Drift (Rexer's Interpretation)

Rexer, borned in Galicia, emerged from the underground scene of his region and developed a strong interest in electronic music and mixing techniques. His main influences are Óscar Mulero, Ben Sims, Setaoc Mass and René Wise, among others.


In 2016, after moving to Barcelona, he began his studies in music production and DJing. Soon, he became a regular presence in some of the most prominent places in Spain and Europe like Apolo (Barcelona), INPUT High Fidelity Club (Barcelona) Moog (Barcelona), Sala Republik (Madrid) and Sala Slalom (Lille, France). He was also invited to queer festivals in Europe such as the Saint Nicholas Festival (Cologne, Germany).


His sets clearly reflect the rawness and hypnotism of Berlin's electronic music scene. His style - characterized by percussive rhythms with powerful bass drums, dark and introspective ambience besides high BPMs - makes the dance floor constantly moving.


In 2023, Rexer becomes a co-founder and booker of YO·YO, a queer collective focused on the LGBTQ+ community role with a sonic identity centered in groovy techno and trance."
