Rexx - How You Gonna (Undeniable)

First off thank you to my mother for inspiring me to write and record this track. During a conversation she brings up that she's working on something for her students for black history month and as a joke I go "yeah you probably need my help for that," and of course my mother says "yeah only if you make a song, with no curse words or any drug talk." Immediately after the talk I start thinking of black history month and what it meant to me. And of course someone that always has stuck out to me is Malcolm X. For one i'm kind of infatuated with the letter X (hints reXX), and two without people like Malcolm X, Marthin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Abraham Lincoln, I wouldn't be here today. That list is very small compared to the actual list of people who have paved a way for us. Being a mixxed kid (half black half white) from a small town in Kansas, Dodge City, I grew up with no racism, but a lot of racism at the same time, by that I mean as kids in my town we were hidden from most of the truth, so our childhoods weren't hard when it came to the color of our skin, but the older we got, and get, we realize past situations that may have been racist, but at the time we didnt understand, so it didnt matter. As odd as it seems the African Americans in my population in my town growing up featured mainly mixxed kids, black and white, some black and mexxican. All of the mixxed kids always kicked it at school with the other black kids, so of course in our town, we were the "black" kids. But most of those mixxed kids lived with white single mothers, most of us were forced on our family as the first African Americans in the family. We made them love something they thought they never could. That's powerful. I know for a fact, on the white side of my family we have/ had a few borderline racist, or full racist members. But getting past color all together is what this song is about. Lets not worry about advancing one race at a time, but as the whole humanity. The african american references are used for their harsh and effective meanings, but please do not get stuck on just that. African Americans weren't the only slaves, weren't the only ones who were screwed over by another human. I do take pride in being an African American/American, but it's not about just about that fued to me. It's about putting all my energy and effort into making the world a better place for everybody.
