Wonderwheel proudly presents the third single off of Yemanjo's upcoming LP 'La Misma Fuente': “Bululú”

“Bululú” is an incendiary bass-heavy banger made for dance floors from Toronto to Timbuktu.  With influences of afrohouse, kuduro and zouk music, this infectious floor-burner seethes with compelling percussion, interlocking bass, horn stabs and a rhythmic vocal hook that anchors the groove.  

“Bululú” is a slang term in Venezuela for a large, noisy crowd of people, and the frenetic energy of this track brings to mind a sweaty, moving mass of people.  A perfect showcase of the higher energy side of Yemanjo’s sound, look to hear this one playing on repeat at summer festivals worldwide in 2024.

Following Javier Bergia’s compilation album Eclipse, Emotional Rescue returns to Spain for the follow up in Ishinohana. New Age, Jazz Fusion and Eastern influences are prominent, mixing electric and classic Spanish guitar with Indian and Japanese influenced percussion to a spiritual perfection.

A project bringing together Javier Bergia and friends Luis Delgado and Manuel Illán, Ishinohana sees these masters mesh the influences of rock, new age and Eastern percussion in to a cohesive whole.

With a nod to the influence of Pat Metheny throughout, Le Flor De Piedra is removed from their works in Finas Africae or as solo artists, allowing each to flourish in their craft with the framework of a group setting.   Delgado is prominent. His guitar playing ties the album together and his production looks as much to the albums of 70s and early 80s America than to Japan, where the background for the album is set.

While New Age and Jazz Fusion are oft considered areas to avoid, it’s actually the more discerning ear that realises these genres are some of the deepest and most free forms of musical expression.

The passion within Le Flor De Piedra displays as such. To not stop, listen and understand songs like Delta and Lucia and their ethereal reproach would be a travesty. The reissue of such a cult album is something worth more than that.

Aaron Martin and Dag Rosenqvist return as From the Mouth of the Sun with the much anticipated fourth studio album, 'Light Caught the Edges' (out October 15th, 2021 on Lost Tribe Sound).

NPR's Tom Huizenga said of the pair's 2017 album 'Hymn Binding,' "If From the Mouth of the Sun's mission... is nothing more than beauty itself, they have succeeded on a disproportionate scale." That quote does well to encapsulate Martin and Rosenqvist's main motivations with the project. Does one truly require a lengthy narrative with music as potent and emotive as From the Mouth of the Sun?

Lost Tribe Sound has long-admired From the Mouth of the Sun's ability to remain focused on the music. Despite the duo having a clear vision and a strong understanding of composition, there are no grand statements or overly academic concepts at play. This allows the music to just be what it is, moving, deep, personal. This unadorned approach is refreshing. The music feels like a blank canvas, easily approachable... rooted in the physical... its emotion is tangible.
