PPG Table

This came out noisy. The Wave picks some days to just be noisy. I'm not sure what's causing it. I did the normal exploratory stuff (solder joints, caps, jacks, etc) and it helped a little, but it just picks days to be noisy no matter what levels are set to. I'm thinking there may be something deeper in an op amp circuit.

A few messages and requests came from over the wire regarding this one. I am making it into a full song. First off, the sounds are REALLY cool. The combinations of notes are interesting. My lack of musical ability tells me that they are chords...I just don't know what chords they are (if they're real).

The song in full has an E-Mu Emulator II doing a great impression of a Simmons drum machine and a dominating synth bass from a Fairlight library on a Korg DSS-1. There are some lead-in stabs from a Yamaha DX5.

Smalltown Elephants were Steve Askew, Andy Fitzgerald, and Paul Turley.
The band were signed by Polydor Records in the summer of 1988, and soon after released debut single ‘Walking on Ice’.  Alas, the business end of things overtook them, and despite a support tour with A-ha on the UK leg of their world tour, Smalltown Elephants soon disbanded.  Footage of the band is notoriously difficult to come by, and despite the A-ha gigs being heavily bootlegged, nobody seems to have support slot recordings. The guys even got some VT airtime on ‘The Tube’ which again seems to be impossible to find.

Sometimes I post things. I was never into sharing the things that I created. I love what I do, but nobody else really liked any of it. Also, I don't make music (yes, music will be posted here as soon as I am actually finally finishing tracks) for you or attention. I make it for me.

Short (long) Bio?
Music to me is more like a massive collection of sounds. I honestly can't hear lyrics, just the spectra of the voice. I discovered synthesizers at age 6 and have been obsessed ever since. In high school and college I started buying up old 80s synths. At the time 80s music was pretty much laughed at and the thought of someone wanting a vintage synthesizer was silly. I couldn't afford a modern synth, so I bought what I could afford- cheap vintage synthesizers.

So...since I took electronics courses and developed a hobby of figuring out how things worked (building, designing, repairing, tinkering, etc) and that I've always had some coding randomness going on since I was 9. I decided I wanted more synths....so back to college for a CS degree and a career as a software engineer to support my quest for sound. 

What I want to accomplish here?
I wont accomplish anything. I've started recording for the first time in 10 years. My ex made this profile for me eons ago. I decided to start using it as I kept promising her I'd start recording.....sadly I never did that. I don't have the personality or musical ability to be a Youtuber so I don't mess with that. 

Synths:
I am obsessed with wavetables. I have a long list of wavetable synths including Wersis, a Keytek, K3, Wave2.3, ESQ, SQ80, Microwave IA, Microwave XT, M, Blofeld, Iridium, Hydrasynth, and then some. 
I always wanted the beautiful Lexicon reverb. I found a 300L broken and missing parts and restored it (the only way I could afford one). 

I love diving into the circuitry of these things. They're so fascinating. As prices soared, I found the best way to get something is to buy it broken and fix it myself. I was even once stuck needing a high powered logic analyzer, but unable to afford one- I bought a broken one and fixed it (that process was a horrific nightmare).

I listen to something and think it sounds cool....then go acquire it. I have everything from 40 year old analogs to hardware from 2022. About 80% of my stuff is from the 80s, though. If it's cool and I can get it for cheap, it goes in the synth rooms. I often buy broken stuff and fix it. I have around 70 synthesizers. I use a series of patch bays, Sycologic matrices, and routers to keep them organized. 

Personal:
I am very shy and try to avoid interaction with things that aren't machines. I am trying to inch out and see if I can share music. I have never let anyone; friends, family, romantic partners, etc listen to my compositions. I made a promise that I would try and put something out there....so sounds, phrases, etc will become tracks eventually.
