Romanian-born GruuvElement’s consistently infuses his work with compelling rhythms that are well-designed and perfectly suited for the club. His discography encompasses a wide range of the scene's finest labels, including Fuse Records, elrow Music, Solid Grooves, Moan, and Paco Osuna's Mindshake. He has a knack for tribal percussion that always gets a physical response, and on this new EP for Massi Rocket's ever more vital Motel Calypso Records, he again explores fresh new worlds where minimal and tech house collide. The wonderful 'Thriller' kicks oﬀ with a choppy groove built from oﬀ-grid drums and hits that are underpinned with a warm bassline that pulses and throbs with erotic tension. That's heightened by the soft, R&B-infused male vocals that layer in ever more intimacy to this most hot and steamy sound. Then comes 'Perfect' , a busier anﬀair but still laden with silky sound deigns and warming undertones. The pads are rich and diﬀuse, the drum fills bring energy, and the vocals here are rapped and chopped to convey attitude, before hooky trumpets provide a playful finish.

PREMIERE: GruuvElement's - Perfect [Motel Calypso Records]

Release number forty-three is the fourth original release on Manjumasi from label co-founder Mark Slee. Whirligig leans hard into the quirky side of the label sound, with bouncy percussion and unhinged melodies slipping and sliding all over the groove. It’s a minimal bohemian affair that lands somewhere between the circus tent and the spaceport.

On remix duty we have the legendary producer Daniel Gardner, aka Frivolous, a veritable master of wonky melodic dance music in his own right. It is fair to say that Frivolous has been a serious influence on the sonic sensibility of Manjumasi over more than a decade of both atish and Slee following and absorbing his output. On this release he pushes Whirligig further in a classic house direction, with tasty electric piano chord hits, a funky walking bassline and artfully chopped vocal cuts. Perfectly playful and weird Frivolous vibes throughout.

Pakate Records hits release number 20 with a brand-new EP featuring one of the freshest newcomers of the year. With a string of successful releases which culminated in his Hot Creations debut, British talent Goosey has rapidly established himself as one to watch after relocating to Barcelona a couple of years ago, making bomb after bomb right next to Jean Pierre's studio. He now joins Pakate with "Fat Shaker" EP featuring a collaboration with his partner in crime Jamie G and recent Paradise b2b mate FIFI FORTE. The lead track is indeed a fat dancefloor heater, where a full-bodied bassline drips underneath numerous layers of shakers, hats, rolling percussions, and hypnotic vocal chops, whilst "Body Movement" on the b-side expresses Goosey's signature sound at its maximum, with bubbling bass, electro-ish synths, and rubbery drums.
