Through old Ghent acquaintances here's the tenth release from the LDDLM bunker. RHEINZAND is almost our super group. Mo (ex Glimmer Twins but still shining), Rheinard, the multi-instrumentalist force and Charlotte, the softer voice.

We don't do retro but if we had, it would be them, chameleons on a sequin dress, sometimes camp, sometimes deep, sometimes even "disco clash" (the term is now copyrighted)

On remix duties, we have the lovely cat lover Lokier who turns THE FIRST TIME (track who was a big hit with influential minor players blah blah) into her own smacked out industrial groove.

AH, IT ALSO HAS THE BELGIAN COLORS.

Overwhelmed with the ecstacy of flight, Icarus soared into the sky like a bird, or rather a god. Drawn by desire for the heavens, he ascended higher and higher towards the sun. When the heat melted the wax on his wings, he fell from the sky and vanished into the dark blue ocean, where feathers, still today, ride the waves of the Icarian Sea.

Aimed at dancefloors in sleazy bathhouses, seedy basements and soiled warehouses, Icarus Traxx’ first offering takes us back to the mythical days of anonymous, muscular power house. Delivering no less than three takes of “Commandment” (plus two acapellas), the 12 inch, starring the enigmatic voices of Jesse B. Simple and Charlotte B. Good, supplies a choice cut for every disc jockey. Hitch a magic carpet ride home on the floaty FM bass and loon bird calls of “Fly Spanish Dub”.

Rheinzand is a collaborative project between Reinhard Vanbergen, the multi-instrumentalist producer, Charlotte Caluwaerts (Tundra) and Mo Disko from the renowned duo ‘The Glimmers.’ Live on stage they are accompanied by Stéphane Misseghers (dEUS) on drums and Bruno Coussée (MannGold) on bass.

Rheinzand’s music is a mixture of styles inspired by dance music’s rich history. Their songs give nods to old & new genres, forgotten & popular scenes in order to create their own take on today’s musical landscape.

Their exotic & eclectic style caught the ears of Danish label ‘Music For Dreams’ on which they released their debut self titled album in March 2020. Piccadilly Records (Manchester) voted the album number 1 album of the year 2020 and Phonica (London) gave them a well-deserved place in their top 50 of best albums of 2020. 

 Tracks from the album such as ‘Blind’ were championed by DJ Harvey during his summer residency at Pikes Ibiza, and the band have had tracks on the first two volumes of his Mercury Rising compilations.

The singles ‘Kills & Kisses’, ‘Obey’ & ‘Slippery People’ (their fantastic cover of Talking Heads’ classic) has further demonstrated their unique and flawless production that is capturing the hearts and dance-floors around the world.
As the live music industry held its breath for a year due to covid, the band didn’t get the chance to bring the first album to a club or festival near you. 

Nevertheless, they used that time well and wrote a second album, titled ‘Atlantis Atlantis’. Still using the same ingredients, you can hear an evolution in song writing, the use of different languages and more song-based structures. The release is planned for early 2022.

To keep momentum during the pandemic, the band and label Music For Dreams commissioned a string of remixes from their debut album from the likes of Gerd Janson, Red Axes, Musumeci, Pete Herbert, Peaking Lights, Superpitcher + many more. Released on digital & Ltd Edition 12”

Hailing from Gent, Belgium the band are set to tour upon the release of their second album 'Atlantis Atlantis' planned for the 4th of February 2022.
