This is a soundtrack to a sci-fi mythos of mine. I have a 30ish page mythology of a universe with notable events spanning thousands of years. This OST is for a notable characters lifetime within the story.

American Dreamer

Each of the musical modes.
Ionian: happiness, home-coming.
Dorian: sad but with the hope of something better to come.
Mixolydian: happiness with a serious undertone.
Lydian: dreamy and heaven-like.
Phrygian: bright darkness with a sense of something to come.
Aeloian: naturally dark and melancholy.
Locrian: pure evil.

There is a perfect 5th in there at 0:49 and 1:24. It worked without it but I couldn't help it. Locrian is so bleak. I had no idea how to make something sound good with locrian so I listened to Mick Gordon for inspiration.

I unintentionally saved Ionian for last. It's the mode I use the least. I told my friend this story: I was 17 in 2012 and I found my first girlfriend. My friend texts me and says something to the effect of "Good. Now you can start writing in Ionian!".

This mode wants to be joyous and uplifting. And while I think what I wrote has those qualities, it also has a fair bit me as well.

The piece starts with "Mysterious Paths" (2 years ago), transitions into orchestral work for a play in college, then a piece I wrote junior year college. After that is a piece written in high school and reproduced 2 years ago with my old friend. Then ends with a piece from junior year college.

The piece at 1:52 features a live string performance by the SF quartet, then transitions into a full midi orchestrated version.

I'd like to preface this with - most of the orchestral arrangements in this were put together while I was still learning how to mix and arrange, and without access to many sample libraries I have now. It can be a bit dense and monotonous in texture but I was learning.

I was brainstorming and wrote the piano you hear in the beginning. At some point as I was tinkering with the midi it reminded me of the arpeggio motif in Oppenheimer. I then took inspiration from Ludwig Goransson's score and began increasing the BPM.

It alternates between 6/8 (two measures of waltz time) and 8/4.

Another piece in waltz time. Reworking an idea after having listened to the Dune OST. This morning my brother had me listen to "Kiss the Ring". 

Also, the image is a 3D artwork I handmade using Blender.
