The second mix of my 30 Years Of Skie +My Raving Years.

It was the end of May 1989,  I was living in  Chesterfield Derbyshire as my parents had moved there due to the house price boom in the south east. The rave scene was  virtually non existent locally so I travelled down to see someone in London, however, they cancelled last minute.  I called my brother Joe up who was a ticket agent for all of the big illegal raves and asked him what was happening that weekend- he told me there was an Energy Rave in a Film studio in Shepherds Bush West London, he offered me a ticket which was left left on the door at the event.  My friend Mia and myself turned up to a big closed gated area with crowds of people and security Guards, it was quite intimidating at first but we could not wait to find out what was on the other side,

When we finally got in it was the most amazing setting I had ever seen with a big temple erected  in the middle of the dance floor. There were bumper cars and arcades with ravers  everywhere and everyone was so friendly unlike local club nights with the usual drunk people getting dressed up and causing fights, it was different, this was very different, the clothes were colourful and baggy with floppy hats, baseball caps, African dress, psychedelic t shirts, flowery tops, it was like a secret  world within a world where everyone just danced together regardless of their ethnicity, class or religion. Football hooligans had become hippies :) The music was underground too, stuff you were unlikely to hear at mainstream clubs. It felt magical like a new step in to the future, a perfect fresh new musical Utopia.

It truly was like a secret Movement...

A sound artist, producer and DJ, REO’s musical productions are chasing a feeling reminiscent of the mid to late 90s, heavily inspired by the likes of Reinforced, Metalheads, Moving Shadow, and R & S Records, just to name a few. Using abstract sound art techniques and live instrumentation, REO is hoping that her bank of unreleased, and unfinished, music will speak to, and feed the souls of those craving a deeper, more emotional sound- REO hopes her music reaches further than the dancefloor. 1. Tell us about any exciting gigs and guest mixes you have coming up?

I'm 8 months preggo, so nothing in the pipeline as of yet, but I have been in talks with some people, with some possible bookings later on this year. Shout out to Cash and the crew at Code who had me play for them in Feb - It was a great night and I felt super empowered DJing pregnant!

2. Tell us about what's coming up on Sydonia Recordings?

Sydonia's been put on the back-burner for now as we've got a lil junglist on the way, but we will still be releasing guest mixes throughout this year. Keep your eyes peeled for those!

3. Has anyone caught you dancing in front of the mirror?

My boyfriend probably has a few times! I love a good dance - more so in a club than looking at myself though!
