Some yell out that the Sixties never die, then it eternally moans
The hippie who did not take baths works at the savings and loan
Many women are still not paid enough to stand on their own
Our problems again took new forms, not saved by Rolling Stone

So who was right in those strange times of my parents’ age
Boomers proclaimed Civil Rights and Vietnam eras as our sage
Looking at where many of them stand reveals the current “sell out” rage
Their ideals half washed up on impotent shores of the media stage

People still run around the suburbs with drugs in their hand
How’s that different than a generation saying, “Let’s get high, man”
There’s so much confusion on when to call off saving this land
The investing class keeps pushing unbridled supply and demand

Hope is not dashed, I dare say, nor could it be inside
America, the undaunted optimist of vain and ignorant pride
We’re always right in our country, but a lot of wrong we hide
Hypocrisy inbred so much that integrity runs against the tide

The piano was recorded in 2011 while volunteering at Fernbank Natural History Museum in Atlanta, GA. I would play at lunchtime in their cafe. I wore a tie with dinosaur fossils on it! :-)

Twas Late At Night Inspiration

This is God’s world, right?
It’s hard for me to see that sometimes
There’s pollution of God’s Earth at such a crazy rate
There’s more abuse of children and adults than I’m able to comprehend

There’s a great silence from God
A fantastic subtlety
A confusing distance
If you love this life so much
If you like us so intimately
Why are we are expected to discern this in the dark?
Why do we have to find this in the dark?

How are we to know your voice and see your signs?
There are so many conflicting images
Tons of altering and disorienting tones

This is God’s world, right?
Then can someone express to me
What is God doing with my life?

I’m punching
And ducking
Sifting through an enormous pile of data

I’m wondering
And pulling myself together
Trying to looking alright

But what for?
Can I trust God?
Does God love me?
Does God even like me?
What do I think of God?

I categorize my tracks as "psychedelic folk-rock avant-garde electronic ambient experimental". The recordings appear to be a cross between the styles of Brian Eno, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Beck, The The, late 1960s psychedelic rock/folk, new age, industrial, 1980s British alternative rock, Kevin Ayers, 1990s U2, noise rock, John Fahey, Radiohead, contemporary electronica, late 1970s David Bowie, post-punk, Kraftwerk, Elliott Smith, 1980s New Wave pop, and Depeche Mode.  

What does my music sound like to you?

Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, U2, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The The (Matt Johnson), Rush, The Who, psychedelic/hippie rock from late 60s, The Doors, 80s/90s Brit alt rock, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, The Kinks, Guns N' Roses, Brian Eno, Keith Green, Jeff Buckley, atmospheric music, Pearl Jam, Elvis Presley, Budgie, many Windham Hill artists, Tori Amos, late 60s/70s/80s classic rock, James Brown, Enya, The Verve, John Lennon, INXS, Elton John, Beethoven, electronic music that sounds like rock, Marc Bolan (T-Rex), Bob Dylan, Metallica, Aerosmith, The Chemical Brothers, 70s funk, Stone Temple Pilots, Missing Persons, biL, John Williams, Kelley Stoltz, The Crystal Method, Of Montreal, Captain Beefheart, Nirvana, Tears for Fears, Billy Joel, Megadeth, Prince, The Cars, Lene Lovich, Franz Schubert (piano, especially his impromptu compositions) and movie soundtracks "The Mission," "A Beautiful Mind", "Amistad", "Braveheart", "Gladiator", "The Firm", "Dances With Wolves" and "The Ghost and the Darkness".

I am seeking a record label to sign with, so if you have any suggestions or connections that might help me achieve this, please let me know. I do not perform live or tour, so my marketing strategy is focused on direct networking and word-of-mouth.

In my mid-twenties, I began making these tunes after abandoning all former childhood creative activities in my teenage and young adult years: bit.ly/2F2dxVP. I am grateful that I persevered during the past 20 years or so, during which I committed myself to learning or relearning how to play instruments, compose songs, craft poetry/lyrics, sing, and record at home.  My level of respect for professional musicians and artists grew exponentially as I realized just how difficult this work can be.  Along the path of this personal musical evolution, I experienced a lot of encouragement and inspiration from countless friends, musicians/artists, family, books, concerts, and documentaries.
