Rhythm From Mars - My Orbit EP

Remmah continues its quest to unearth exciting brand new talent with the debut EP from mysterious UK-based producer Rhythm From Mars, featuring a remix from Glasgow's Anna Gram, who herself debuted on Remmah in 2021 and has subsequently featured on adored Munich imprint Permanent Vacation.

As suggested by the name, Rhythm From Mars’s approach to music-making aims to tell his own cosmic sci-fi stories through laser music, dark disco and italo, all built around drums that kick harder than ten Barsoom Thoats. Perfect for the output of Rory Hamilton aka Hammer’s digital imprint, which has charted its own course through sci-fi italo and acid on its 11 previous releases.

The EP kicks of with City of Mars’ marching beat, adorned with italo melodies and growling synth lines, all of which are further heightened on Anna Gram’s Red Planet Remix, which dials up the original’s chugging rhythm and hypnotic elements. Moon Request marries insistent forward motion with fizzing acid lines, while the title track closes Rhythm From Mars’ assured inaugural release on a note of dancefloor panic with the irresistible urgency of its hectic synth stabs and rolling percussion.

VDTKK (Vadim Tsirkun), Local legend from the city of Kaliningrad / KLD RUS Uncompromising Electro warrior, in electronic music since the mid-90s.
A fundamentally vinyl DJ and simply a creative person who can do (perfom)  absolutely anything with a turntable. Blind Allies agent, who reveals in his sets all facets of the electro style, adds to his mixes (likes to use) fragments from the music magazine Krugozor, published in the mid-80s, to create his own unique and more realistic musical Electro Dark Sience atmosphere, as well as cinematic Electro sound and space stories with robots and aliens from other parallel worlds and galaxies of our beloved universe…

WL//WH Premiere: BIRDS - "Devil S Dance" [Feed The Void]

Blending acid-strewn Electro with twisted Wave and vocal allure, as the title suggests, the track is a dark mysterious exploration of desire and temptation, imbued with feelings of anxiety and danger throughout, instigated by a dance-inducing foundation of obsessively resonant scattered snare beats along with the mechanical shakings of humming low ends, pierced by desolate, shivering icy synths and neurotic squelchy acid lines, through a gripping build-up layering of hot and cold, fast and slow, also heavy and thin frequencies, interpolated twice with calm bewitching female spoken words swathed in reverb, inviting others to join in the “Devil’s Dance” using magnetic persuasion.

When Rotterdam-based, UK-born DJ/producer Birds (real name Katie Wilkinson) began putting together the tracks for her debut album, she realised that there was an ongoing theme to the vocal lines; they all were related to either being at, leaving or returning to some form of ‘home’, most likely because she made the move from The UK to The Netherlands less than 6 months before and was still going through the traumatising visa process. This led her to think about the philosophical question of what exactly is home. The album explores these themes.
Genre wise, the album is a deep dive into Birds’ Bass, Breaks and Electro-inspired influences with the occasional signature fuzzy guitar hook reminiscent of her earlier dark-wave material peppered in.
