Memory Play - Anxious Attachment

All Centre kick off the new year with a two tracker from label mainstay Holloway. Following a busy 2023 for the London-based artist, holding down a residency on Rinse FM, tearing up parties around the world and launching his own label Waylo, Holloway starts the year as he means to go on with two incendiary club tracks.

Beans opens in atmospheric fashion with lush pads and dubbed-out sirens held together by enthrallingly syncopated percussion. The structure then strips down to allow a wistful, jazz-inflected theme to come to the fore, deftly complimented by a bouncing, descending bassline and a deep kick pattern. Lightly swung drums give an edge of UKG stylings to this deep, introspective cut.

On the flip Holloway ramps up the tempo with Trinco. Soulful chords fuse the sound of 90s DnB into precise, stepping percussion. The track launches into another dimension at the drop, driven by techy drums, growling basslines and warped vocal samples. The track breathes with the reintroduction of the atmospheric pads, before the bassweight emerges again with renewed force.

In 2020, Phasmid released his debut single ‘Shunned’ on Gimme A Break’s We Are Viable compilation, raising funds to support Leeds-based MAP Charity. Five years on, the eclectic DJ and producer has announced that his debut physical EP will be released via GAB on March 7th 2025.

Having cut his teeth in the UK Garage and Breaks scene, Phasmid took an extended leave from the DJ circuit to refine his sound and production techniques. Hadal Zone is the culmination of Phasmid’s various musical explorations to date, showcasing the producer’s signature clean-cut and bass-led take on breakbeat, electro and trance fusion.

On the A-side, the title track kickstarts the EP with a clinical electro breakbeat workout. JCEE (Juan Camilo Saenz) is a techno DJ and producer born in Cali, Colombia. At 22, he has developed a powerful and immersive sound, exploring the nuances of hypnotic, raw, and hard groove techno. His style is distinguished by the energy and dynamism of his sets, where he incorporates groove-laden loops to create an immersive dance floor experience.

Inspired by artists like Ben Sims, Alarico, and Truncate, JCEE strives to convey a unique vibe, building a narrative with each musical selection. He has shared the stage with talents such as Araujo a.k.a. Innexen, Otta, Deadwalkman, Leah Kyveli, No One, Sara Delirio, Peter Blue, Unknown, and Sebastian Daza, establishing himself as one of the emerging talents of the Colombian techno scene. With a fresh vision and a strong connection with his audience, he continues to take his sound to new levels.
