Rhyw is back on his own Fever AM for the label’s 10th 12" release.

“The Devil’s in the Dlzlzlz” presents four new tracks of non-linear mutant-techno and electronica, including his first foray into 160bpm territory. Rhyw continues to seek out space within the groove, dissecting conventions in his detailed, minimalistic and adventurous style.

Slow Stings is - you guessed it - a slow/alt version of Bee Stings (from The Devil’s in the Dlzlzlz), which just felt right, or better even, at this tempo.

Over the past five years, Fever AM has given us a steady drip of exquisitely modern, genre-defying club music, from angular rhythm sculptures like Gacha Bakradze's "Daraji" to twisted party-rockers like Rhyw's "Biggest Bully."

To celebrate their fifth anniversary, label founders Mor Elian and Rhyw have put together a compilation that captures their strikingly fresh vision. "It's Not a Bug, It's a Feature" presents core Fever AM artists like Xen Chron and Ayesha alongside a few newcomers to the label, such as Pariah, MSJY, Peder Mannerfelt. Fans of the label know what to expect: soundsystem-tailored bangers with a surreal twist, for DJs that like to keep the crowd on their toes.

Wanted to put this recording online before the end of the year. It was my first time at Freerotation and was one of my fave sets(and definitely my favourite weekend)of the year. The whole thing was so hyped up in my head (I've wanted to go for years) but it really lived up to expectations - believe the hype - very rare. An honour to be involved. wav.world emerged out of a long-running chat exchange of mixes, tracks, and some playful speculation: If you were going to make a platform for DJ mixes in 2024, what would it look like?

Mixes are a unique type of musical expression. They capture a specific moment in time, determined by the knowledge and style of the artist. A mix is as important a creative statement as an album, remix or EP. One mix can change an artist’s career, one mix can open a listener’s mind to something completely new.

We miss the importance that mixes used to have. So, we made a platform for mixes.

Each wav.world mix gives one artist the time and resources to create whatever kind of mix they want, to share something sonic about who they are and what they love.

Every wav.world mix will feature a longform interview with the artist which gets to the heart of what moves them—in music and in life—through text, video and image. Each edition of wav.world will feature the commissioned work of music journalists, visual artists and graphic artists.

Sometime earlier this year, mysterious stickers started popping up - my face Photoshopped onto a Pokémon. After a few reposts, I learned the Pokémon in question was Mewtwo, which apparently makes me… Rhywtwo (It rhymes!...).

Since then, people have been spotting these stickers in Amsterdam, Paris, New York, Stockholm, Berlin and London so far.

I still have no clue who’s behind this or *why*(!?). But since it doesn’t seem to be an insult or promoting anything, I decided to see it as some kind of game. So, in the spirit of embracing chaos - when life gives you a sticker with your face on it, you make.. a track.

A1 Season of Teeth from "Slithering" (AVN041)

Rhyw returns to Avian.

Slowly becoming a label mainstay, Alex Tsiridis emerges once more on Avian under his Rhyw alias. The producer follows up 2018’s "Cave Walls (Part Two)" with "Slithering", another five track missive channelling the latest in Tsiridis’ more gestural, groove focused work.

The production is as rich and tightly bound as one might expect - each track full in the mid range and packed with the arcane, percussive components that now characterise the producer’s output.

Stepping opener "Season of Teeth" sets the tone for the EP, a meditative piece that only reveals itself fully in the last quarter of its run-time but makes the most of neat, driven polyrhythms throughout; whilst ingenious follow up "Salt Split Tongue" showcases Tsiridis’ knack for twisting vocal samples into curious hooks. On the B-side "Skend" sees the record move into 4/4 territory, but the sound design remains no less left-field with a lead that feels buoyed by another guttural vocal manipulation. "Spoiler" offers up the most straightforward club recording on "Slithering", a focused and exquisitely produced reduction, before giving way to closer "Succession" - the EP’s only beatless recording, an industrial transmission with nods to music concrète.
