Dear Listener,

It is with great privilege I write to you, in honor of a melody, in honor of a rhythm, in honor of a sound, in honor of a song: 3214 Old Freedom Road, the follow up single to Imperial Sugar. 

I invite you to walk with me upon this road. I know not what will be offered to you while traveling through this space, but it is my hope you will receive whatever it is you need to continue your journey in the company of many.

Many who have passed through this world.
Many who have experienced the parade of the spirits along Old Freedom Road.
Many who have stayed behind in order to become our guides.
The echo of yesterday still resonates today.
It is all here!
The breath, the beat, the blood, the thanksgiving!

The four mentioned characters are likened to Jungian archetypes. They are representatives or guides of human behavior and psyche, all carrying with them a sort of ancient collective symbolism. They become the puppets for Ricardo’s play, not in the sense that they have their own personalities and distinct voices but in the reflective light of perspective. The Shepherd clearly assumes the leadership role (religious figures, teachers and politicians), The Sheep represent an assortment of followers, passive and aggressive (even the rebel is consider to be a sheep, according to Ricardo), and The Guinea Pigs and The Monkeys symbolize a kind of dangerous gullibility and an entertaining new form of prostitution and slavery. Ricardo Iamuuri is not averse to owning all of these various characteristics, and he readily admits they make up his personal understanding of self.

Ricardo iamuuri Robinson, aka La'Vender Freddy is a conceptual sound artist. Their works attend to patterns and forms of sound and space, using deep listening techniques and reproduction technologies as creative methods for engaging sonic influences and reforming social self awareness. They call this artistic practice “Sonarcheology.” 
“A mystical study of the ancestry of sound.” 
 
Robinson's work has been funded by The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Lyman Fund, and was featured in the Emmy Award-winning documentaries In Country: Vietnam and Jim Crow Pennsylvania.  He was named the 2013 RAW Artist of the Year, and was a 2014 Flight School Fellow.  

Before dedicating his energy to audio visual art, Robinson had a vibrant career as a musician, recording and releasing two full albums: Conversations with Shepherds, Sheep, Guinea Pigs and Monkeys: Nursery Rhymes for the Underfed Minds, Vol. 1 and Conversations w/ Aliens, Automatons, Paper Kings and Plastic Dreams: Nursery Rhymes for the Unfettered Minds, Vol. 2.  He has performed with bands and as a solo act in scores of venues around the country.
