With mechanical efficiency, man’s prosthetic children eliminate humanity to save the planet. Task complete, Earth’s new mechanical stewards retreat into a vast subterranean cache, where they become dormant, though always keeping watch over nature. Nature reclaims its heritage, rescues moribund ecosystems and restores the life cycle. But in that frozen continent in the south, an aria resounds.
