Years of Denial is a fetishtic ritual of contorted flesh and altered states, a feverish/ infectious paradox of primitivism and modernity.

Years of Denial is the alter-face of French musician/DJ/producer Jerome Tcherneyan and Czech performance artist/DJ Barkosina Hanusova. With the use of hardware combined with vocals and a plethora of dub devices, YOD are re-visiting the dark corner of Post Punk, Industrial music movement and rave culture. 

Their live Electro performances fuse SP 1200 beats and pulsating arpeggios with heavy electronics and engaging vocals. Barkosina’s voice ricochets against percussive snares as she intones ghetto poetry and dark romanticism. The duet operate on the dance floor without anesthetic creating an excursive electrifying shady atmosphere.

Both influenced by Isolationism, they also perform improvised cinematic Ambient sets with the use of modular synths and processed vocals. They draw upon the darker and profound stimulus of experimental music, creating an immersive and dramatic imaginative space.

This EP is about the self-disorder, a psychological phenomenon of disruption or diminishing of a person's sense of minimal self.

The Examination of Anomalous Self-Experience (EASE) is a psychiatric semi-structured interview that attempts to capture the extent of the mainly non-psychotic self-disorders experienced by the person. It is divided into 5 domains:

Cognition and Stream of Consciousness.
This domain covers disturbances in the flow of thoughts and experiences, including such self-disorders as "thought pressure", an experienced chaos of unrelated thoughts, "loss of thought ipseity", a sense as if the person does not own their thoughts (but not to the level of psychosis), and "spatialization of experience", where the person experiences their thoughts as if they occurred within a space.

Self-Awareness and Presence.
This domain deals with dissociative experiences of the self and world as well as a tendency toward intense reflection, in addition to a declining understanding of how to interact with others and the world called "perplexity" or "lack of natural evidence";

Bodily Experiences.
This domain deals with alienating experiences of the body as well as with "mimetic experiences", the sense of a person that if they move, pseudo-movements of other, unrelated objects are experienced.

Demarcation/transitivism.
This domain covers specific disturbances in the person's ego boundaries such as the person confusing their own thoughts, ideas, and feelings for that of their interlocutor.

Existential Reorientation.
Domain oriented to changes in the person's experience of the world that reflect the effect of self-disorders on the person's worldview.

"Rory St John returns to Voitax with »Excommunication«, a hyper-deep, futurist take on classic dub techno. Skillfully assembled, each of the four tracks hypnotically morph and evolve, forgoing the cheap tropes of today’s ‘rise and drop’ techno for a more immersive listen – one gets the feeling that each and every sound is wielded with precision, and exists exactly where and for as long as it should.

Reacting to the increasingly harder-edge sound that proliferates today’s techno, Rory St John strove to push his sound in the opposite direction. The result is sombre and introspective – a slick, reverberating antidote to mainstream anthems.

This release is markedly different to the abrasive stylings of his previous »Run Your Mouth« EP and reveals yet another side to the producer’s sonic palette."

Hypnoskull was created in 1992 as a solo project in order to experiment in the area of electronic noise combined with rhythmical structures. In the first years of its existence, Hypnoskull was releasing cassettes and tracks on international labels in the so-called cassette network, a widely spread network of independent and experimental musicians and artists who expressed themselves throughout limited tape releases often including artworks, ideas, texts. In 1998, Hypnoskull signed to the German label ant-zen. That is not a coincidence: ant-zen stands for ‘anti-zensur’ (anti-censorship), one of the main starting points of the provocative Hypnoskull project. Patrick Stevens does not limit himself to just producing music as such, albums always include a severe message, a thought-provoking underlying concept text, questions. The main philosophy: ‘the dance floors, the clubs, the festivals… are staged warzones with a different set of rules – a therapeutic zone where hidden anger and even aggression of both the artists as well as the spectators can be released in a proper, human way. Music as a means to open up the deepest anger inside human beings, letting it out in a way which is not harmful to others". A strange symbiosis between the two worlds, Patrick Stevens is a part of the techno and the industrial scene. Techno once being a genre promoting an open, positive mindset, industrial on the other hand being a highly nihilistic, philosophic but pitch black reflection on society. The mix of both musical as well as content wise elements of these genres result in what Hypnoskull is all about. Added to this an explosive mixture of post-war and contemporary western subversive philosophy – in a rather impulsive manner – makes the project what it is today, after 30 years of existence.

Now for Folgsamkeitfaktor, Hypnoskull presents his brand new 7-inch single "The Trickster". From industrial techno monster of the title track on A side, to the slow burning B side track with vocals, an eerily predictive textual dissection on the state of our contemporary societies, written in 2013, rediscovered in an old notebook and recorded in 2020. The release sounds extremely massive and crystal clear at the same time. Mastered by not less legendary German techno & EBM figure, Thomas P. Heckmann, the record is ready to smash the floors and, with a collage artwork, hand-made by Patrick Stevens himself, also may take place on a shelf of any authentic vinyl collector. Prepare for this brain-smashing industrial technopunk dual-charge bombshell!
