A short experiment based on Diego Stocco's tutorials about Rhythmic and Convolution processing. I used espressobubbles as input for my convolution reverb and mixed up orchestral strings with Impulse Responses from a plastic bucket.

ORIGINAL Citation (Oct 2014): Rosetta’s Plasma Consortium (RPC) has uncovered a mysterious ‘song’ that Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is singing into space. The comet seems to be emitting a ‘song’ in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field in the comet’s environment. It is being sung at 40-50 millihertz, far below human hearing, which typically picks up sound between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. To make the music audible to the human ear, the frequencies have been increased in this recording. My contribution to the Sennheiser DrumN Remix Challenge using the DrumMic'a! plugin. I muted most of the original guitars, played new ones, re arranged the track to my liking, added some sounds and of course I created the drums using the great DrumMic'a! VST Plug In

Limitless

At the Cannes Film Festival 2016 I was invited to a small gathering at the Village International. Somebody gave me a glass of champagne and with this in my hand I felt confident enough to say hello to the famous film composer Atli Örvarsson. 

My first thought was ‚I didn’t know Atli is that young‘. After we have talked for a minute or so he said to me ‚I think what you just mentioned is how Atli Örvarsson approaches projects.‘ - For a second I thought he was talkin about himself in third person. But then I realized I actually wasn’t talking to Atli. Well I just knew I was talking to some composer from Iceland. And to hide how confused and embarrassed I was I just asked ‚Um I have to talk to somebody else. Are you on facebook?‘. This was when I learned I was talking to Ólafur Arnalds all the time. And I learned what a great composer he is (how was it possible I haven’t heard anything about him before??). 

Now with the new sample library OLAFUR ARNALDS CHAMBER EVOLUTIONS by Spitfire in my hands I thought I may share this story and dedicate a short instrumental song to it ;-) The song is called ‚How I met Ólafur Arnalds and thought he was Atli Örvarsson‘. Enjoy.

How I met Olafur and thought he was somebody else

Anticipate you and I remembering, delighting 13 young drummers from the slums of Rocinha, Rio de Janerio with our finger drum solo.

(Always wanted to perform a drum solo as far back as I can remember but was never possible on a drum kit. So, this composition was a chance to pretend a bit and improvise a drum solo. I use 3 fingers on right hand – sounding like drum sticks at times – and 2 on the other to tap, and for the guitar & cello strings. I hit the music box with my ring for symbol sound. Quite a physical and mental challenge to follow the echoes and maintain some cohesive rhythm. But at end, it is just a tree branch. For accomplished drummers I do hope you appreciate this effort.)
