This is, I think, my final pass at this number. It's been really cool, but I'm starting to get the itch to make my own music again. I have a few more @Lasaril pieces lined up that I want to play with, but I'll save them for a bit and come back tot hem when I need a boost again.

For the record, I wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals and electric guitars. The rest of what you hear (bass, keys, drum programming) is pure Lasaril. The man is a master songwriter. I just tried to graft on something that felt appropriately dark and moody. 

And for those wondering, no, the lyrics aren't about you. It's just a story I made up to suit the song. Call it an exercise in lyric craft.

Away by Lasaril (Limbosonic Mix)

This was a weird little jam I instigated to get Derrick and Gary playing to a Big Dave-type bass groove. It's really rough and doesn't go anywhere special, but as a section, I think it will go down great with a bit of vocals and some connective tissue to a larger piece, which is what I intend to do with it on the next album. I just wanted to clean it up and showcase it as a demonstration of what Etcetera could have sounded like in a proper studio environment. Derrick Rose: Drums/Gary Falkins: Guitar/Lee Mc.: Bass

Surf Arcanna

Soundcloud tells me I have three minutes left, so I have decided to upload a raucous little power trio jam between Derrick Rose, Big Dave Bedard and myself. It was another in a long series of 'reward' jams I would grace Dave with if we completed a good performance of the 'album set' we were rehearsing at the time, 'And Sew Fourth'. It was basically a rocked up rendition of the opening riff to 'Goodbye', my poignant little coda to Derrick's 'Games'. This is probably the closest I got to recording myself playing a reasonable facsimile of a Hendrix-like guitar hero performance back then. Very sloppy improv, but the best soloing I did back in those days was at our next/last band practice before we went on semi-permanent hiatus, so I didn't bother to tape it, because it didn't seem to matter. I regret that now.

Cookie Monster Jam

This is a doodle for something new, which I improvised on New Years Eve. Not sure what it's actually going to be, but I'm hoping to get back to it soonish. I just beefed up the sound a bit to replace the previous version, which wasn't quite doing it for me, you know what I mean?

The Mellow Chamber (NYE 2015 01 01)

This is my first attempt at a Fusion jam, a la Stanley Clarke. It's more than a little derivative, and it doesn't experiment enough with the structure, as it was just a handful of grooves I threw together in about an hour. Hopefully it amuses. I hope to do more advanced and better rehearsed and programmed (Looking For Drummer!) numbers in the near future. This may turn out to be a little side project for the People's Republic of Limbo, if I think of any lyrics.

Bassix 01

I decided that the mix of the previous mix-down was way too loud; I believe I fixed it here.

This version includes rhythm guitar playing by my guitar student and I, with me having programmed the drums and then adding bass and lead guitar afterwards. I keep thinking it still needs vocals, but that's probably just me. My wife says I add too much to my music. I just think I'm a terrible musician, and need to mask it with every good idea I have.

Drake's Progress Mixdown 2015 07 14

This is an old drums'n'vox demo for a song I'm thinking of reviving and completing, with a few judicious updates to the lyrics. As it stands, it's a bit passive aggressive, but I think when I get finished tweaking it, it will be a little more reflective of the realities of modern music making.
