Heist

I composed this theme for a 2010 production of Turgenev's play A Month in the Country, produced by Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto. There were several variations of the theme, arranged for accordion, guitar, violin, and piano. The accordion parts were played by Sasha Luminsky.

Theatrical Music 1994-2008

Accordion Theme #1 (from "A Month in the Country")

I wrote this music for the Porte-Parole documentary play "Seeds", about the court case between Monsanto and the late Saskatchewan farmer Percy Schmeiser. In one climactic scene, Percy (played by legendary Canadian actor Eric Peterson) gives a fiery speech excoriating Monsanto and genetically-modified agricultural products; this music would slowly build under his speech.

A piece from my soundtrack to the 1922 silent film Nosferatu. A ship arrives with no one aboard but a dead captain found lashed to the deck.

The Passion Of Leo (from "The Inheritance", 2024)

Composed for the 2022 Stratford Festival production of Hamlet, directed by Peter Pasyk, starring Amaka Umeh as Hamlet. I adapted the ancient "Dies Irae" melody for this stately string-quartet piece that underscored the fencing scene at the end.
