This is the second version I have released of this song. If you have heard the first one, it would help me if you left your opinion on both. Composed one August night on the seashore in El Palo. The sway of the waves gave the right rhythm and the experience of summer love gave the right emotion for the melodic development. When I composed it I didn't know what scales I was using, as always, I learn from my compositions, the music flows, comes, goes and leaves its wreckage on the shore of consciousness in the form of songs, then I study them and learn new chords, arpeggios , scales. I recorded it years later using Julia, my Takamine, and an acoustic Cort tuned open, with a kitchen fork as a slide.Esta es la segunda versión que edito de esta canción. Si has escuchado la primera me ayudaría que dejases tu opinión sobre las dos. Compuesta una noche de agosto a la orilla del mar en El Palo. El vaivén de las olas dio el ritmo adecuado y la experiencia de un amor de verano dio la emoción adecuada para el desarrollo melódico. Cuando la compuse no sabía que escalas estaba usando, como siempre, aprendo de mis composiciones, la música fluye, viene va y deja sus restos de naufragios en la orilla de la conciencia en forma de canciones, luego las estudio y aprendo nuevos acordes, arpegios, escalas. La grabé años después usando a Julia, mi Takamine, y a una Cort acústica afinada en la abierto, con un tenedor de cocina como slide.

Artist Commentary: “Sorrow” is a song I feel deeply connected to and proud of. Its musicality reflects a subtle integration of my Brazilian roots, and the lyrics come from a place of real emotional honesty - something I value in everything I create. This song was born from a moment of deep internal conflict: the sorrow I experienced in response to a situation I deemed unfair and saddening. I struggled with putting my feelings into words. But ironically, that very silence is what led to this song. Once I recognized what I couldn’t express, the music helped me find the words. I believe Sorrow will resonate with people who think deeply, feel intensely, and often carry unspoken pain that others might not validate. If this song brings you a sense of recognition, comfort, or emotional solidarity, then I’ve fulfilled one of my greatest hopes as an artist.

JARV’s lifelong love affair with music has deep roots, sprouting in the ‘70s influenced by six older siblings always spinning tunes.  Festivals have been a crucial part of his fabric since his first taste at Sweetwaters ‘83.  JARV’s sets reflect his broad musical palette, recreating his journey from  the reggae-infused snow and surf of Whanganui via the psychedelic experience of cave living in India and the melting pot that was the exploding dance culture of early ‘90s London. Now based in Tāmaki Makaurau, JARV's experimentation across music’s multiple genres continues to evolve. He knows how to party and how to bring the party.
