Hybrid release their 6th studio album "Black Halo", as you might expect it's dark, emotive, and technologically sleek. Largely written during the turbulence of 2020, the album celebrates the perseverance and triumph of the human spirit. No matter what life throws at us, we thrive and survive.

Following on from their critically-acclaimed 2018 album "Light Of The Fearless" - an album eight years in the making which saw them execute a precision comeback with a sold out tour - "Black Halo" reaches for those sweet spots between the contrasts once again. Somewhere deep between organic and electronic, faith and escapism, strings and synths, drums and bass, fear and hope, it's a place where Hybrid can tell their boldest stories so far.

Merging Jimi Hendrix-styled guitar riffs via guitarist/vocalist Stu Morgan into Mike's sonic soundscapes and punctuated by drummer Simon Hanson's meticulous rhythms, Hybrid's music allows Charlotte's clear and pristine vocals to float and weave effortlessly. "Black Halo" focuses in on microcosms of these sounds from the brooding stormy weather of tracks like "Lost Angels" and "Seven Days" to the ghostly melodic pop of "No One Knows" and "Nails" to the icy glittering rhythm of "Come Back To Me" and to the anxiety and drive of tracks like "Flashpoint" and "Voices In The Static."

A deep emotional narrative runs through all Hybrid music. You can sense it in Charlotte's stirring songwriting and vocals, you can hear it in Mike's formidable sound design and production, you can tangibly feel it in the drama, tension and release of the arrangements, and "Black Halo" is the best example of this so far.

Originally formed in 1995 at the height of the UK-led Breakbeat era, Hybrid became leaders of an electronic movement that encompassed a dizzying litany of pinch-yourself moments and accomplishments. With a career spanning over 25 years they have amassed 35 singles, 5 albums and remixed tracks for the likes of New Order, Unkle, Idris Elba & Cypress Hill, Moby and Radiohead. The band are renowned for the cinematic approach which they apply to their production, with many of their tracks being synced to big budget television shows, films and video games including SSX Tricky, Saints Row 3, The Fast and Furious franchise, Man On Fire, and many more.

In their own right, Hybrid continue to take their art to incredible places through speakers, stage and screen, and at the heart of it all is simply this: powerful storytelling.

Beloved for his combination of musicality and groove, Deeparture debuts on Clubsonica Records with 'Propellor | Rolls Royce'. Dominique Vijverberg, better known as Deeparture, is an electronic music producer from The Netherlands. His penchant for crafting melodic house and progressive minded sounds has earned praise from the underground's premiere tastemakers. Eelke Kleijn, Joris Voorn, Lane 8 and Hernan Cattaneo have all chimed in with play and support for Deeparture's transcendent sound, which has found a home on the genre's elite imprints such as Anjunabeats, Days Like Nights and This Never Happened. Also, an accomplished DJ, the Utrecht resident has programmed music for his country's trendiest venues, alongside top tier talents such as Guy J, Einmusik and Tinlicker. Now embarking on yet another high-profile project, Deeparture debuts on Clubsonica Records with a two-track showcase alongside a remix from GMJ.

Destined to be a highlight in Deeparture's meticulous discography, it is the melodic stylings of the title selection which get the release underway. Rhythmically charged from the outset, it's undulating cadence, striking vocal phrases and character rich groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Emotive chord changes and dynamic stabs rise across the first act, carrying momentum and mood into the main break. Pitch bending effects delight across the centrepiece, eventually melting down to the creation's symphonic motifs and esoteric moods, as a timely drum roll and rising sonics unite for a tasteful crescendo and balmy finale.

The lone interpretation of 'Propellor' is provided by GMJ who makes his label debut. Based in Melbourne, Australia GMJ aka Gavin Griffin has been a primary figure in the progressive house scene for over a decade. His passion for deep and emotive electronic music has seen him land releases on the industry's most esteemed imprints. From Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music to Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, UK behemoth Anjunadeep and his own meanwhile imprint, it's GMJ's storytelling style that continues to surprise and inspire even the genre's most discerning fans. Now following his latest Proton Music vehicle 'Rise Above', the Melbourne resident debuts on a Clubsonica with a thrilling take on 'Propellor'. Adding more of a progressive state of mind, the Aussie artist carves out a dynamic groove adorned with firing percussive, enlightening vocal fragments and fresh rhythmic themes. Hypnotic arps emerge as the first movement takes shapes, adding a meditative quality to its dance floor inspired framework. Coming to full fruition during the main break, the kaleidoscopic theme opens up, rising triumphantly towards a classy crescendo and smooth yet exhilarating final act.

Adding further depth to the release is the second and final original 'Rolls Royce'. Beginning with beautifully contoured bass lines and neatly manicured percussion, it's deeper design delights as the groove gets filled in and harmonic layers descend over the framework. Glassy arps and glowing effects flow through subtle modulation, as orchestral sonics and ghostly wails steal the air leading into the main break. Complete with reflective qualities, the centrepiece sits as the most emotive moment on the release, effortlessly transferring its heartfelt vibe to the dance floor and rounding the EP out on a strong note. An immaculate sounding release from Deeparture once again, who makes his Clubsonica Records debut in fine style here.

Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Reading Souls' by Madloch and Matias Vila is Forerunners. Famed for releases via Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Antrim's Or Two Strangers and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Brenden LaBonte a.k.a. Forerunners has earned a legion of fans for his progressive creations. Based in Arizona, the US artist is choosey in his projects and focuses on the finer details when it comes to production, making for immersive, slow building tracks that tantalize your mind, heart and feet. Having appeared on label affiliate 3rd Avenue in January of last year, Forerunners now steps up to parent label Sound Avenue with a rousing rendition of 'Reading Souls'. Taking square aim at the dance floor, the American artist works devilish effects and crunchy rhythms over a full, rolling groove and dynamic percussive arrangements. Indistinct vocals and airy phrasing add depth and mystery as momentum builds across the first act, perfectly shifting energy into a break of tense atmospherics and a heady final movement.

The ongoing collaboration between D.J. MacIntyre and Nomas continues to bear fruit, this time in the release of 'Elysium' which includes three excellent remixes.  The original mix is thundering and dramatic, replete with a driving low end, and explosive climax.  Eminently respected Greek producer Basil O'Glue spins the track into a hypnotic powerhouse in his first appearance on SLC-6 Music.  Astral Base's label debut is a tough, groovy, and futuristic remix.  Doriaan takes 'Elysium' to dreamier territory putting his distinctive stylistic stamp on the track in another gem for SLC-6.
