Music, I Yield To Thee

"God Be In My Head" was composed in memory of my grandfather, Dr. Charles Edward Stephen McKeown (1916-2008). The text comes from the Sarum Primer, a collection of prayers and worship services developed in Salisbury, England during the 13th century and used throughout Britain and parts of continental Europe until the Reformation. Recorded by the Delta State University Chorale.

God Be In My Head

Sleep, Sleep, Beauty Bright (SATB version) is dedicated to my three beautiful children. I started to search for a text that I could use for a lullaby shortly before our third child was born, and began to compose the melody a few weeks after his arrival. The text is from “A Cradle Song” by English poet William Blake (1757-1827), which was published in the collection Songs of Experience in 1794. Recorded by the Delta State University Chorale.

'Tis Morning

Stella Clara was commissioned by a consortium of twelve choirs. The text is "Star Light, Star Bright." Charles Anthony Silvestri translated the original nursery rhyme into Latin, and added two additional, original stanzas. Recording by the Eastern Kentucky University Singers.
