Richard Carey Ford is the award-winning American composer of The Prisoner, The Week That George and Viktor Died, Waiting for the Sunrise, A Lovely Leave, Bolts of Melody, and That Him (with libretto by Richard Mayora), The Rites of Antigone (with play by Rick Fonté), and incidental music for Baltimore Waltz, the Eric Pfeffinger plays Traumaturgy and Scrooge Variations, and others. He created the libretto for the musicals With Eyes Open and Venture Capital (both with music by Mark Wilder).

He has composed music for films including iCrime, webisodes, and video games. He was the inaugural Composer-In-Residence for the Houston Heights Orchestra. Ford has also directed, produced, and worked on over 200 theatre and film productions. Many of these were world premieres at theatres including Playwrights Horizons in New York City, The Colony Theatre in Burbank, California, the Bloomington Playwrights Project where he was Artistic Director, and Los Angeles-based Write Act Repertory. He is an alumnus of the famed BMI Lehman Engel Music Theatre Workshop and Playwrights Horizons.
