Field Recording of a Live MealWorms

This weekend we went to Crystal Waters Florida and recorded various sounds of the marine life. We took a boat out to theses specific locations including Kings Point Bay, Shell Island, and Mouth of Rainbow River. Here we captured some bizarre sounds of Dolphins communicating, thousands of shrimp feeding, and the distant moan of the Hypostomus Plecostomus catfish. (Headphones highly recommended). These recordings where captured using the Aquarian Audio H2a-XLR hydrophones, and Sound Devices 702 Digital recorder. Original files recorded at 24-bit-96khz.

Particles of matter float through endless space and cluster into larger formations such as strangely shaped asteroids, wandering planets and whole, eternally shining stars. Even our own earth is made out of intergalactic stardust. But what determines this movement, the dynamics of a physical field, its time evolution and spatial distribution? It is the [Field Equation].

We became aware of him when we first heard his excellent recordings from the Eclipse Festival, a international psychedelic gathering of high standing, held every two years in his home of choice Canada. These mixes are bass driven, otherworldly journeys to places far, far out, that we regularly came back to. They explore the untapped potential of the 170bpm halftime aesthetic, pushed by labels like Horo, Samurai, Auxiliary and several others over the years. So well curated and executed they are clearly one of a kind.

No surprise that we are more than happy to host one of his mixes here on our platform. Breaky rhythms, massive basslines, epic atmospheres and a few trippy surprises will make this a cosmic listening experience which will calibrate your molecules.

In the wee hours of an October morning deep in a Southern California mountain valley, a bespectacled sonic explorer took to the stage in front of several thousand people. Flitting among hip-hop, broken beats, acid-trip bass and jungle influences, Barclay Crenshaw introduced fans to the musical palette that has come to inspire his forthcoming self-titled album. 

Today Crenshaw shares his debut mixtape, inspired by themes of otherworldly exploration and retro-futurism. It includes previews of forthcoming album cuts , special VIP versions, world premieres and unreleased remixes – including a feature with the recently-reunited Cool Kids, a debut VIP remix of What So Not and more.

This track was composed for the "Curtis" (iphone/ipod/ipad) app by The Strange Agency. This piece is a Acousmatic composition based on everyday found objects. I recorded various wine glasses, gears, metal, motors, Ratchets, chimes, croaking frog scraper, Indian bells, Tibetan Singing Bowls, Santoor, waterphone, piano, hematite magnets, processed voice, underwater ambiances, computer, and sprinkled bits of Buchla 200e/Doepfer Euro rack Modular. 
All of the sounds originally captured at 24-bit 96khz with a Neumann RSM 191 A/S stereo shotgun mic, SMK4060 Stereo Matched 4060-BM Miniature Omnidirectional Microphones and Sound Devices 702 recorder. Download the wave in 16-bit 44.1khz wave:)
