That’s the essence of my latest composition, "Follow Steps." This short piece of neoclassical electronic cinematic music tells the story of pressing on, trusting that by following the footsteps of someone who truly knows the paths, we will eventually find a safe place. It’s a reflection on life and the lessons we learn along the way.

"The Best News" is a neo-classical electronic Christmas composition that brings the timeless story of light and hope to life. In just one minute, this musical piece captures the joy and wonder of the holiday season, inspired by the biblical message of Luke 2:8-15.  

Christmas is a time to celebrate the most extraordinary news in history: the birth of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World. This Savior came to bring salvation not to the rich or powerful, but to the humble and willing-hearted. This message of hope and redemption transcends time, resonating deeply with all who reflect on its meaning.  

The video complements the music with stunning visuals that immerse you in the beauty of the season. Starting with vast, starry nebulae, the scene transitions to snowy forests and serene mountain landscapes, symbolizing the quiet and mystery of that holy night. Fir branches, glowing lights, and swirling star animations create a sense of wonder, leading us to the shepherds watching their flocks.  

In a dramatic moment, the angel Gabriel appears, announcing the good news of great joy for all people: “Today, in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you.” As the heavenly light intensifies, we see the Nativity scene—a humble manger where Mary and Joseph gaze lovingly at Baby Jesus, the Light of the World.

"Friendship" by Richard Dobeson is a neoclassical electronic composition that explores the essence of human bonds—lasting affection, trust, and intimacy. 

The piece blends classical orchestral elements with modern synthesizers and cinematic hybrid percussions, evoking a calm yet powerful atmosphere. 

The delicate electric piano in the introduction sets the tone, accompanied by sustained strings and a subtle beat. 

As the piece unfolds, a distant synth melody with a Wah effect takes center stage, supported by brass and a rhythmic synth bass line. 

The composition flows into a beautifully orchestrated chorus, where a singable synth melody intertwines with strings and brass, creating a dramatic and heroic texture. 

In the finale, the duet-like melody between powerful horns and synth layers adds a unique depth and emotional resonance, leaving the listener with a sense of unresolved tension and beauty—much like the complex nature of friendship itself.

Step back into the soundscape of 1987 with this newly remastered piece, originally recorded in one sitting on a Yamaha DX-7 synthesizer. 🎶 Captured on a 4-track Tascam Porta-Two cassette, 'The Jungle 1987' embraces the raw, analog feel, complete with the minor imperfections that make it all the more unique today.

Starting with a tropical marimba bassline in an ascending harmonic sequence, the track soon evolves with warm PADs supporting an uplifting synth string melody. In the middle, the roles shift, where synthetic textures and a delayed beat take center stage, while strings cushion a harmonized marimba melody.

The track comes full circle with a vibrant marimba bass return, now accompanied by a richly modulated synth lead, full of vibrato and movement.

Fusing together the purity of classical sounds and the sonic richness of electronic instruments, Spanish composer Richard Dobeson creates a universe that is expressive, imaginative and wonderfully relatable.

Born of Irish origin, Richard Dobeson lives in Madrid where his home studio is located. From here, he crafts compositions that explore the human connection to peace, love and unity. His eclectic soundscapes experiment with neo-classical, progressive, and art rock genres, but his signature presence is in the cinematic quality found in each piece. 

Richard Dobeson has dedicated his life to music, pouring his soul into every note, melody and instrument. The years of music education, knowledge and expertise have allowed Dobeson to express himself eloquently through music. His humble beginnings in music began as a teenager, possessing a natural talent for the guitar and his passion for performing. Much of his time was
spent studying and practising the instrument to develop a style that would become unique to Dobeson.

Guided by professionals, his thirst for musical knowledge only intensified. Continuing his studies in Classical and Jazz training, his next venture would be in the electric guitar with Jorge Cabadas and David Gwynn. Nano Riverola and Goya Award-winning Eva Gancedo would assist him in his Ear Training, Piano, Harmony, Composition, Arranging and Film Scoring studies. These courses would greatly influence his creative songwriting abilities. His knowledge in piano and clarinet gave him access to new depths and dimensions within his pieces, combining classical instrumentation
with vivid electronic sounds.

Richard Dobeson’s music has accompanied cinematic visuals, writing for film and media. He was also the accompanying guitarist for singer Dani Martin, who would later form ‘Canto del Loco’. His own personal work has seen the releases of an array of EPs and singles, including ‘Elysium Bliss,’ ‘Deep Heart’ and ‘Wild Flower.’ February will welcome the release of his upcoming single
‘Largo,’ a euphoric composition that puts the world into perspective. ‘Largo’ will be released on the 17th February 2022.

The result of Richard Dobeson’s vibrant career and spirited connection with music is a colourful, artistic and dynamic world that brings awareness to the mind, body and soul.
