Note: This is a work in progress but I am looking to collaborate with a singer and/or rapper. I usually post my Classical & Video Game pieces/compositions here. This was my submission for Ryan Leach's April 2023 composing competition.

I titled the piece "Stropharia" based on the mushroom theme, as given by the artwork's blueish hues and blueish mushroom Diety (?) that seems to be central in the town. The instrument choices as well as the intro were based a bit scientifically on how mushrooms "communicate" with one another, as well as the somber and echoing chambers on how they actually grow and connect to one another. (Yes, I went- THAT FAR- in my research.)

Day 2 of the #21DAYSOFVGM ! Today's tip was to create a mental or physical workspace, so making a village theme sounded nice in creating a space for composition. Originally was going to use Glockenspiel but decided to use this fancy music box synth instead. Enjoy this loop!

Locrius Village (Day 2)

So, I'm kind of late for Day 3 but I'm in love with this track! Today's (now yesterday's) tip was to create a piece using stepwise motion with few leaps/only purposeful leaps. There was also a semi-implied theme of ghosts and ghouls. SO...  I went for a spooky choir piece that slighlty sounds a bit like Dark Souls. Also, got to use my Christmas Gift of EWQL Symphonic Choir for this so, I'm absolutely stoked!!!

Yay! Day 4 of #21daysofvgm ! So I went for a Character/Group(?) Theme for today with the idea of having not highly used intervals... I chose the tri-tone... another day of dark/sinister music- except today, WITH ORGAN. I used a 5/4 time for this piece for an unusual thing for me, personally, to compose.

Day 5 Everyone and still pushing on. So today we had to use the human voice to some extent and I love using my East West Symphonic Choir (TECHNICALLY human voices!) I was listening to many harp videos last night and thought to make a little piece (non-looping for today) using both. Solemn sounding.

Those who know me, know I love writing Dark, Mysterious, and Creepy pieces. (Especially Epic Choirs with Latin text.) With an updated library, I have fallen in love with this piece and the evocative Dance is brings to the table. Especially a tongue-in-cheek lyric in two spots. I hope you all enjoy

Our storyteller (our singer) finds herself out in the dark, where she journeys through the haunted house "beyond the bend of pumpkin hills."  Nevertheless, it's nearing midnight on Halloween-- and "The Ghostly Gathering" (our ensemble musicians) have come out to play...

Richard Risi is an emerging, Legally Blind and Hard-of-Hearing, Composer/Arranger, and Operatic Tenor. Modern Classical influences with fragments of minimalist, ethereal, and lyrical melodies.
