This song is my all time Favorite, this song was from movie Payanangal Mudivathillai it was release on 26 February 1982...   This song was under my music Gods S P Balasubramaniam sir & Ilaiyaraaja's Composition there are totally six songs in the movie all sung my SPB ji... Especially this song went to new heights...  Ilaiyaraaja made SPB to go 23 takes for this song... then after that Ilaiyaraaja was satisfied... 

A Guitar notes will be there in the middle which will be Mind blowing.. The tune of Ilaya Nila was later reused in the Hindi song Neele Neele Ambar Par.
