Spicy Cuts est un collectif d’artistes venant de tous horizons. C’est aussi le fruit de la collaboration entre Rorschach et Arkin, l'utopie de créer des lieux de libertés et de rêveries éphémères.
Le duo "mascotte" du collectif propose aujourd’hui une sélection allant de l’electro à la techno en développant l’imaginaire d’une science fiction musicale. Mais leur palette sonore s'étend aussi à d’autres genres comme la House ou encore la Trance, en essayant de digger les tracks aux atmosphères les plus immersives et singulières 🌶️

After having recently released on AEON and Roam Recordings, Franz Matthews returns home on his HIFI/LOFI imprint by unveiling his Symmetric Dance EP, showing us once more how the producer likes to play with the codes of House, Space Disco, and Indie Dance by intertwining them and turning them into his very own secret sauce.

The trip starts with the eponymous Symmetric Dance, where a faster-than-usual Franz brings us into the groove with a deep bass line supporting the words of a sort of musical guru, leading you (yes, you.) progressively into the ecstatic moment of the Symmetric Dance, here materialised by a catchy house-y piano part that later exploses into a festival of notes before coming back to an infamous rhythm that we dare you not to dance to. Does it feel like summer ? Yes, probably.

Moving on to Zero Gravity, we step into a fast-paced ride of cosmic synth escapades that take our vehicle on a full throttle run until it has left the launching ramp and floats into mid-air, not really knowing when or where it will land. But, just as you finished catching your breath again, you land back on earth, full speed, and navigate in the middle of another asteroid galaxy tour, taking a few Machs along the way until it is time for the next bump. Will you land back on your feet this time ? Yes, probably.

Closing the cosmic ride, the slower ‘Herbie Crashed The Party’ is a progressive burner constructed around a centre ARP2600 synth line evolving throughout the whole track and being joined by funky guitars, heady synth ornementations, and a stabby brass ensemble that opens up the door to what seems to be the ghost of an unusual guest as the party goes on, which makes us wonder if it was a good idea to let Herbie Hancock in at the party ? And again we will answer : Yes, probably.
