Richie Garrison Deep Soulful House

Thought I'd do another one of these Deep Soulful house mixes and get a little deeper as I had loads of fun doing the first one. Still a little rusty around the edges but it has been 20 years since I was on doing regularly lol!
I've chosen to upload these mixes first because they remind me of my RnB/Hip hop roots as a DJ while adding the most important Jazz aspect which is my passion!

These are basically the types of songs I find harmonically interesting to play over as a Saxophonist and the punters aren't asking for yet another rendition of "Show me love" or "Free from desire" LOL

Richie (born in Birmingham) has been playing the Saxophone since the age of 14 and has now been heard all over England as well as Europe. He has always had an equal aptitude for Jazz, RnB, Gospel, Funk Classical and many other popular styles of music. Having the additional ability of understanding and respecting each genre of music presents him with great versatility which has caused him to be in high demand. 

Richie, (now living in London)currently works as a freelance musician, performing, recording, transcribing, composing arranging and teaching music. 
Who Richie has played with:
Richie of late has been fortunate enough to preform in front of and share the stage with
non other than the great Legendary STEVIE WONDER at Ronnies Scotts.
Stevie passed by the club back in September 2012 and was very impressed by his playing.
He has worked/played with such stars such Grammy Award Winners such as Stevie
Wonder, Mariah Carey, Macy Gray, also Incognito, Motown’s legendary Drifters. Imanni
(Incognito, Real People) Kele Le Roc, Vula & Brendan Riley, (Basement Jaxx) Patrick Alan
(ex Drifters, Michael Jackson) and more.
Wynton Marsalis (twice) Robert Glasper, Roy Hargrove, Dave Murray Big Band Joel Frahm
and also Stella UK musicians such as Soweto Kinch, Femi Temowo (Amy Winehouse), Jean
Toussaint, Tony Kofi, Troy Miller(Amy Winehouse, Roy Ayres) - Gary Crosby, Alex Garnet,
Brandon Allen,
In December of 2011 Richie was handpicked to play "Hero" to the songs writer and
performer “Mariah Carey” who was in attendance at Actress Eva Langoria's (Desperate
Housewives) charity ball in London. The star studied gala event also included Jermaine
Jackson, Leona Lewis, Tamara Ecclestone plus many many more.

During his time in Birmingham he was contributor and co host at Soweto Kinch's well known "The Live Box". during its time as an open mic jam session. This gave him the chance to play with many great Jazz musicians, with some of his favourites being - Wynton Marsalis (twice) and also stellar musicians such as Soweto Kinch, Femi Temowo (Amy Winehouse), Jean Toussaint, Troy Miller(Amy Winehouse, Roy Ayres) Gareth Brown (Lilly Allen Westlife, Lemar, Daniel Meriwether) on stage and many others.

In 2002 Richie won a Grant from the Scarmans Trust which helped him realize his dream of putting on talent shows in the Midlands. During this time he was commended for his work with Teenagers and Performers from all walks of life with a dream of playing to larger audiences. The program entitled "Jazz Voices", became a widely received event. Richie helped many Singers and Musicians gain confidence to play in front of the large audiences he would attract every month. Since moving to London Richie hopes to continue much of this work and now has his own night at the  Troy Bar with singer Holly Petrie entitled Interfusion which is now becoming very popular week by week.
