Live Classics Set from Ultrabar on 6.26.09. This is the last 2 hours of the night. IT was an amazing evening on many levels.  We lost the Kin of POP Michael Jackson that week. I felt it was only right to pay respect to the man who influenced us all by playing a few of his hits in the middle of the night. This is one of my favorite classic sets I played live. I have received so many positive responses after my last Sound Factory inspired classics mix of the darker and dirtier sounds asking for a follow up. I had always wanted to do a mix with the unforgettable vocals that Jonathan used to play but the only way to appropriately pay homage to his DJ'ing style, to attempt to evoke the emotions he was able to do on a weekly basis is to recreate each song as he would. For those who never shared the dance floor with us at 618 w 46th St in the early 2000's what he would do was to rip each track apart and put it together again using multiple (unreleased) versions including instrumentals, acapellas, strings, flutes, pads and a Pioneer EFX-500. The effect of these extra steps would be to constantly leave the audience waiting to see how a song would be played and whether new nuances would be added. Often times these tracks would be extended upwards of 15 minutes each which is unheard of in the modern day. I mostly stopped collecting these songs years ago, but I had the idea and a few important friends and contributors (thanks to those who know who they are) gave the final missing pieces that I never had in order to justify doing a mix of this length and in this style. My own personal requirement is to only include songs of the highest (lossless) audio quality as opposed to the hideous sounding versions of these songs that were shared on Napster/Soulseek that have now worked there way into other sets and on YouTube. Additionally I tried to avoid songs that were included in CD's that were sold by Sound Factory unless I could recreate them differently than was done on the CD, many of the songs that aren't in this 8+ hour mix that otherwise would be are for this reason. I wanted to share something completely unique and special in a way that has never been shared. Every song included in this mix are all lossless audio studio masters or were released solely on vinyl and have been personally ripped by me. I hope this mix is as meaningful to you as it is to me. The tracks selected were chosen from a series of tracklists that I had personally written in the summer-fall 2003 period from Sundays at Sound Factory and the objective of this mix is to transport you back to that time. It's nothing other than a tribute to Jonathan who was a godlike figure at the time and has musically captivated so many of us.

Richie Rydell - Vocal Reflections

For the past 17 years the name Richie Rydell has been synonymous with successful parties in the NY/NJ area. He held residencies and performed guest spots at such "Marquis" venues in NYC like Cheetah (which he held a Saturday night residency from 1999-2001), Saci (which is now known as Show), Exit, NV, Tunnel and Spirit (which was formally known as Twilo). 

In NJ he held residencies at well known venues such as River Street, Metro Lounge, Merge. Currently, he makes guest appearances at nightclubs like Mister East, Boa, 78 Lounge, 118 Lounge, Chris Michael's Lounge, Waterside, 466, Park East and the well known Harrah's Pool Party (in Atlantic City).

Richie has also played multiple venues in Rhode Island such as Ultra, Coliseum and Fusion. 

From 1998-2003 Richie worked full-time in the dance music industry as both the general manager and buyer at Mondo Music which was the biggest dance music industry retail store in NJ. There he serviced many NY/NJ based dj's such as Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo and Jonathan Peters. 

Richie produced two (2) mixed cd's that were released on the independent record label, Diesel Groove Records. New York City Underground Club Traxx, volumes 2 and 3 were both sold in music retail stores throughout the country and today are still available online. 

If you google Richie Rydell you will see several videos of him dj'ing and see photos of the crowd or flyers from his events. He recently added some of his producing skills to Soundcloud for everyone to enjoy. He recently obtained a certification in Ableton and has produced songs that have been released on various record labels.

Considering his background in the music industry, his experience as a DJ, but above all his extreme passion for the music; there is no doubt that Richie Rydell is going to succeed in becoming a globally credible DJ and producer of EDM.
