Soldier's Things - 7:29:19, 12.26 AM

This is a recording of a jam session at Eastside Sound, sometime in the early 80s, not sure, 80. 81, perhaps 82 but I don’ t think so. The session took place at the instgation of Warren Odez., It was a total improv, as I am sure is evident from listening to it. The session was recorded to a two track stereo machine, I seem to have a vague recollection that Eastside had just aquired a Revox 1/2 track, a deck I always liked, and Lou Holtzman recorded thsi session to it. This is as hard core as it gets when it comes to Eastside, a few missing individuals, but a fairly core group when it comes right down to it. On the session was Marc Irwin on piano, Barry Heimowitz and John Scavelli on guitars, myself (Richie Bittner) on bass, and Warren Odez on drums. Lou Holtzman recorded it. At Eastside Sound on Orchard St. NYC. The whole thing was salvaged of a shity cassettee that I have been draging around scince then, but I bought and restorded a Nak on eBay. found the tape, and here we are. A poem by WB Yeats and musical composition by Lynne Bittner. We were never going to finish this. Lynne wasn't happy with her vocal, you be the judge. A song/poem regarding finding the truth within your self, perhaps for us it required the wisdom of age, but it is something we knew to look for in our youth. Released on what would have been Lynne's 63rd. birthday.
