Las Vegaballen - Too Much Manic Debris

A little exercise using the Dorian scale in C and inspired by  the works of Henryk Gorecki. Hence the title. 
By the way: I'm an Ableton noob. Made with Live trial. Always open to suggestions

Made with the MPE capable string quartet and brass section packs by Spitfire Audio for Ableton Live 11. 
Also featuring the Leeds Town Hall Organ sample pack by Samplephonics.

I also found out that this track was not suitable for Soundcloud in-built master option. I replaced the file with a new home made master track.

A Picture Of Dorian Gorecki

This is an Ableton Push exercise I made with some real instruments and a field recording. 
A while ago, the building across my street was covered in scaffolding. At night, as the autumn wind swept through my street, the pipes began to whistle like giant pan flutes. So I recorded it. 
In this session I am trying to capture the mood of that autumn evening.

That little vocal ditty at the beginning was the first thing that came to mind. 
For the guitar parts I took some inspiration from guitar hero Robin Guthrie and a little bit from the late great Lyle Mays for the synth melody in the last part of this piece. 
The other influence was Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath (kind of) for the bass line. I know it's not exactly how they play but perhaps you get the idea.

For the drum sounds I fooled around with the Beat Repeat effect in Ableton to make it swing. At the end I break away from the sentimental mood for a few bars  because I felt like dancing. 

In case you're wondering: I used six chords: Am7, CM7, FM7, G6, Bm7, D5
