Ride Or Die

This song was a started a couple of years ago when I was in quiet desperation from being sick of all the walls it felt like I had to put up. 

I was craving the type of connection that I didn't have to hide my real self from. 

little did I know it wasn't really about that but hey you gotta learn somehow right? 

I wasn't in a relationship at the time I don't think. I would have been living in North Melbourne and been feeling pretty aimless. (mid covid). 

I did however notice that I could never make myself feel fully comfortable around someone. 

I wanted that. 

That's what this song is about.

This song features LeechKing. We met up randomly one night whilst I was in the city and then he ended up coming over to my house to record and he recorded this verse. I loved it and then the song was complete.

Seth Freeman, my current housemate, wrote the second hook...THANK YOU SETH.

Barak Remalli helped make the intro a little more interesting and the structure of the song less boring. THANK YOU BARAK

Tone test od Scuffham amps s-gear guitar amp vst.  Going for the sound of Traffic's Dear Mr Fantasy guitar with a little more edge.  "A" setting is the rhythm throughout, single coil neck pickup at 3/4 vol.  Crunchy low end with slight drive but clear articulation on the top, mids severely scooped.  First verse just rhythm guitar.  First chorus, the "A" setting on a neck humbucker with guitar volume at 10.  A little raucous combined with the rhythm guitar, but might be useful on its own.  Second Verse is "B" setting, which overdrives heavily and punches the mids up in the same place the A pulls them down, so this is a better complementary leadd tone but nothing like the song.  Various pickups.  You can hear the "B" kick in after four measures of the second verse.  Quite obvious.  Different guitar settings give a pretty good tonal range for the rest of the B setting verse.

Dr Mr Scuffham

Just a guitar track for an idea I had today.  Variation of a song I wrote when I was in the Mess in the early eighties that we used when the other guitarist, Palmer, broke a string.  The original, which I'll put up some time, was in E so that he could tune up in the middle of the song since we had no tuners and it was usually the E string that broke.  We had another song for when I broke a string.  I'm playing through an iphone on two apps called Bias Fx and Bias Amp, which allow me to create my own amp.  The version here is a variation on my old Ampeg vt40 that I no longer have.
