No one puts out mixtapes anymore. Like the long, Dedication 3 – J. Cole Warm Up – type of mixtapes. Projects full of imperfect, experimental, and vulnerable ideas. With everyone focusing on shorter, conceptual projects, I wanted to drop Demo1 – a project fans/supporters could sift through and be patient with.

To this day, one of my favorite things to do is hit the comic book store and go through the action figure bin. I can spend an hour getting lost in the idea that a collectible is waiting for me to find it. I want Demo1 to reflect that sentiment. I want people to sift through it and find the collectibles – the songs they will connect with beyond a Soundcloud stream.

In a lot of ways, Demo1 is my most ambitious work. It’s 23 songs of unfinished, behind-the-scenes music. This is my interpretation of a Kendrick, Untitled Unmastered. Something raw. Unfiltered, mixed, but not all mastered, quality songs that need a home.
