Lennon rotates in his grave, wait, this is an update on Imagine. But I think he'd approve once he stopped rotating. This is a lovely mix of slightly minor notes and vocal shifts. And the lyrics are sharp and soaked in ironic melancholy. Yes, a very subtle knife, this song.

The second title, Pro Patria Mori, refers to the Wilfred Owen poem Dulce et Decorum Est (it is sweet and right) Pro Patria Mori (to die for one's country). Owen took the line from the Roman poet Horace and quite rightly called it 'the old lie'. These are Owen's (a sad casualty, dying just a week before Armistice) unsentimental words:

Suppose for just a moment
That heaven's truly real
And the dead could all come back
To tell us how they feel

Especially those fallen
In the two world wars
What would long lost soldiers
Say to mine and yours

I also have a truly massive backlog of lyrics constantly being added to, with influences too many to list. This being so, feel free to hit me up for collaborations (I write both to and without music) but be aware I only write for fun and challenge; I'm no industry wannabe and never plan to be.

Finally, please do not 'follow' me if you can't be bothered listening to any of my songs. It won't be reciprocated and I will block you. The prima donnas here are tedious and you know who you are. Ditto the bots that 'like' a track the instant it's uploaded. Soundcloud, you need to do a better clean-up job here, please take note...
