reference to one of my favorite cudi tracks "Higher Up", i really feel like im lifted, feeling like my higher self. You know that feeling of knowing you got it, it might've felt like potential before but you know it's there with out a doubt. That's where i am in this song, higher up, know all heights can be achieved, im me and the only me.

if you don't know the lore, long story short, i started as a rapper. Riq The Rocketman 
to Riq, to the more successful rico rich of RICH TOMMY. I later transitioned to Tamani Joy where i began to sing, since then i've always been haunted by the rapper that i was as people still wanted to hear more of that but i was flowing another way at the moment.   So distant from the vocal tone and energy of rapping, I'd never thought that i'd get back into the bag.

TERRACOTTA, produced by Canada’s own gooch, is an exploration and practice in boundary-setting for the sake of self-preservation and vocalizes what it means to truly know your worth. Tamani Joy begins by recognizing the infinite nature of his capacity to love. This recognition is followed by melancholic detailing of a failed relationship that he’s declaratively decided is no longer worth his time. 

Tamani’s taking his audience into the depths of his mind and finishes with a captivating, melodic hook that’s the boundary-setting anthem of the season. Throughout the song, Tamani opens the door to conversation around unconditional vs. conditional love; a powerful reminder in knowing when it’s time to walk away from something or someone you once loved so deeply. 

Sonically, the song stays true to its endearing title. The cadence feels like a lightly textured terracotta pot carrying budding plant life and is an incredible metaphor for the new music Tamani plans to rollout over the course of the next few months. Tamani encourages his audience to come for a ride on his journey toward inviting newness in and allowing a fresh, more personal era to incarnate.
