This song is about someone who deals with suicidal thoughts and discusses him following through with suicide. It discusses about how his suicide would be better for everyone but in reality it isn't. Throughout the song, he gets more and more certain that his death is fate and follows through with jumping to his death. "Standing on the Edge" has a double meaning in the sense that he is on the edge because of all the things he has dealt with as well as, literally standing on the edge of a cliff with a drop that can be fatal if he jumped.
