In April of this year, Joe Farr announced he'd be hosting a remix competition, using the stems from 10 of his UX [User Experience] back catalogue tracks. The entrants had until May 10th to finish and submit their tracks, with the winners getting released on a special UX compilation (digital), to be mastered by Joe himself and promoted like any other UX release.

This week we will premiere two tracks from the V/A compilation, the first coming from young up and coming producer FLÆN. With releases already on the likes of Gobsmacked Records and Industrial Techno United, plus Tetraedre Records, Falsive Records and Revok Records, this latest release further adds to his already growing catalogue. 

Remixing French techno producers Ekors, this a techno re-work fit for any dance floor. Expect industrial and heavy drum work making this a peak-time dance floor destroyer. 

As an extra incentive, all profits from this release are being donated to Women's Aid charity, a worthy cause to support during these times.

Legion IX embodies the synergy of new-age and original Techno by forming it 
into a multifaceted construct.

The Various Artist of Legion IX is the first impression of this project, which 
ascends out of the depths of Berlin’s underground scene. This Legion of modern age unites various participants, who are forearmed to incorporate their musical talent into the sonic vision of Legion IX.

The tri-national compilation represents 13 different perspectives of energetic 
techno and merges those into one unity.

The first composition on Legion IX’s Various Artist is a creation called ‘Fuck 
the System’ by @troperecordings. The underground techno legend created a 
track with old school nuances by combining rhythmic rims and deep snares while clashing crashes add extra energy to it. The contribution of Legion IX resident @s-w-h-r called ‘Red Snow’ resembles a drama, which acquires its dark atmosphere through deep and distorted synth-pads and induces an emotional tension. For their creation ‘Morgul’ the next Legion IX resident @vinya_official joined forces with @rezystor to combine voluminous kicks and ringing cymbals for evoking a raucous and dark energy, which is underlined by sinister vocals. ‘Judgement’ by the Lyon based DJ @oposition illustrates his artistic finesse through early variations of rhythm and it elicits a slamming warehouse vibe.

The swiss talent @unconformist produces powerful and shifting dynamics through the mechanic and rattling elements in his track ‘Uprising Terror’. In @basswell-2 ‘Silver’ the dark pads accompanied by light rides and passive claps cause an unique tension. The french producer @mac-declos contributes the track ‘John Hoovy’, which convinces with tribal hinted beats and a drone break sound caused by sharp hats and siren-like cuts. Through unrelenting polyrhythms @draugr8 creates a heavy drum tool in his composition ‘Störtebeker’. The duo @soundofsuicide consisting of the artists SWHR and @lndoo represents its raucous versatility through their work. Therefor used digital voice cuts function as a battle cry for the ´Satanic Soldiers´.

The expressive interpretation of the Parisian duo @mothtechno acquires its deep sound through the pervasive synths and the accentuating acid parts, which make it hard to ‘Don’t forget to go Home’. ‘Overdrive your Speakerz’ by @yanis-bellalem is defined by playful pings and stabbing synths. Due to its straightforward drum set the track results into a pure and uncompromising rave statement. One of this year’s most uprising producers @lulutechno finds ´The lost Happiness´ due to drum-roll cuts and gated pads throughout the upbuilding, which turns out to an epic twist in the second half. The last legionnaire standing is the Berlin DJ @tilman-riddelt, who contributes ‘Arak’ as the final anthem to the Various Artists EP, which contains playful trance parts.

The first release of 2021 for Genau Recordings will feature an all-French joint venture between techno duo Drums Theory (a team up by well known artists Blicz and Geerson) and the very interesting new comer PROXYMA. A three straight techno tracks work, with the first one, “False Reality”, giving the name to the Ep and featuring a powerful and fast drum line evolving in dark and atmospheric pads. “Avc” also develops from heavy drum and basslines opening to more dreamy synths, while “Life Jacket” is built around a massive acid sequence.

90s techno in a crisp 2021 jacket. Charlie Sparks brings 4 tracks of pure dance floor power, including a legendary Rommek remix pulled through gritty breakbeat dimensions.
Anastasia sets the tone right with a 90s hinting female vocal and stabs, picturing an uplifting vibe driven by snappy percussion. An extra dimension is added by the introduction of another 90s-colored synth elevating the track until the ending.
Interstellar is of a faster pace, lines of acid are added and the BPM is higher. Around midway the track starts to really lift off after adding an electrifying iconic guitar-like synth line.
It is in the name, Hyperspace will take you into hyper space without a doubt. Drawing you back and forth with glitchy synths going into thick acid through after an immersive build-up.
Rommek brings maturity to the table in an imminent remix of Hyperspace. Strong kick rhythm combined with clever perc hits and the same glitchy synths taken from the original mix as the main driver lead.

In January 2022 he released the track "I Have Some Bad Fucking Habits" on the VA compilation "ISMVA004.1" by ISMUS, a hard techno banger with epic vocals and hypnotic synth lines.
