The single 'Memory Circa' is a collaboration between Australian-Londoner Richard Pike and Brighton producer Ital Tek. Originally recorded in 2014, the EP also contains 2 lost B-sides of dance analog experiments from Richard Pike, remastered for 2020.

'Memory Circa' is an exploration of the blurred lines between one's inner world and new technological realities we're now entrenched in. Our thoughts/desires are meshed into its daily usage. A parallel half-light world.

Faltering

"Floating state within various ambient atmospheres. From celestial surroundings to earthly airs. This journey comprises a whole, a time span that aims to describe an abstract landscape, without a specific roadmap yet with meaning. From an empty (balmat in catalan) space of time, a sketch of textures and infinite sensations has been outlined. Bon appetit."

Balmat (@balmat_cat) is a new label with a cloudy outline.
Jointly shepherded by Albert Salinas (@wooky) and Philip Sherburne (@psherburne), two friends living in Cardedeu, Catalonia, and on the Balearic island of Menorca, Balmat grew out of Lapsus Radio, a weekly show on Spain’s Radio 3 (https://www.rtve.es/play/audios/lapsus). Balmat’s mission is simple: to foster new ideas, expand upon personal obsessions, and put enveloping sounds out into the world.
“Balmat” means “empty” or “void” in Catalan. But quite apart from any negative connotations, we prefer to think of it in terms of possibility: a space waiting to be filled.

Max Allison co-runs the label Hausu Mountain and performs as part of the improvisational Chicago noise group Good Willsmith with Natalie Chami (TALsounds) and Doug Kaplan (MrDougDoug). SD Biomix is his new solo recording under the name Mukqs, and while still rooted in improvisation, it feels increasingly like microscopic moment-to-moment sound collage music, where dedicated listening is rewarded. Some surprising compositions rise out of Max’s process, like the beautiful harmonic opening to “Distributing Mementos” that abruptly cuts into MIDI slap bass, horn, and drum machine, or the intricate mixture of melody and free rhythm on “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”. The seven minute “All Seven Gods of Fortune” contains many of the albums concepts in one piece, starting with rhythmic patterns and chopped MIDI melodies that seem connected but fractured, as if a pop song has been blasted apart and then melded back together with each piece in a random order. I might have a biased view, but the album sits beside the new school of Japanese electronic artists like toiret status, Koeosaeme, DJWWWW, and Foodman (who Max referenced as an influence). They share a joy in discovery and show how this electronic language can achieve depth through playfulness and experimentation.

Borrowing its title from the language of writer Donna Haraway, multimedia artist Tristan Arp’s forthcoming EP, Oddkin engages with the imagined realities of non-human forms, from plants and insects to androids. Oscillating between playful and apocalyptic, ambient and polyrhythmic, Oddkin is a web of unlikely bonds hanging in the delicate balance of coexistence. Approaching each track as a different living creature or sentient form, Tristan Arp leans into animated sound design and asymmetrical rhythms for worldbuilding.

The EP’s cover art features an original painting made by Tristan Arp while finishing the record in his home in Mexico City in quarantine during 2020. Oddkin will be released on Tristan Arp’s Human Pitch label, run in collaboration with Simisea, on March 19th.
